Can anyone confirm whether all root veg is ok to eat for an IBS newcomer?
Root veg: Can anyone confirm whether all root... - IBS Network
Root veg
Well, the answer is yes....but
Turnips, carrots, parsnips, swedes, sweet potatoes and white potatoes are all on the low Fodmap food list, and supposed to be okay for people with IBS.
But...as we are all different, I can't eat any except peeled white potatoes! Well, I can eat them and like them all but they upset my gut, even though they are low Fodmap.
I think the only way to go is to see how you personally get on with them? I would start with small amounts and see if that works.
hi there If you can get a copy of FODMAP diet sheet ask your doctor you will see what vegetables are good Some don't make sense to me but of course any that previously caused wind ie peas cauliflower avoid There are quite a few you canCabbage Carrots Parsnip Potato but no onions or cauliflower
Hope this helps but like all foods it's trial and error Good luck

Have a look at glutenfreecuppatea.co.uk/lo.... This will give you an idea as to the usual worst offenders. But as the previous replyer said, we are all different, and some may affect you more than others.
Worth looking into the dos and don't fruit and veg fodmap diet.
Has anyone experienced the sulphur smelling breath and realised that it might be chocolate?
