I have been diagnosed with IBS and diverticulosis! My doctor prescribed dicyclomine, which does not help. I’m in pain every day! I’ve tried different diets and nothing helps! I’m at my wits end and dont know what to do. I’m either constipated or diaherra and sometimes it’s both. It’s ruining my life and I’m very depressed.

IBS and diverticulosis
Hi, I'm the same with both. I'm becoming extremely housebound. I take so much stuff out with me. I'm just start seeing a dietitian to with the low fodmap diet and also using drugstore busopan and imodium. Also citalopram from the my doctor. I hope this helps
Ditto mate hot bath and water bottle exercise helps me but constant sore feeling across abdomen also probiotcs help a bit and fibrogel
Sorry to hear of your pain Nancy 2022. I have D and IBS but the D is not apparent all the time I have flare ups. When this happens I eat a bland diet for a few days until it calms down so I am lucky in a way. Warm baths do help. The IBS causes me more aggro which I have learned how to manage
I could have written this. I am in constant pain 24/7, IBS and diverticulosis, had numerous scans, tests etc. Pain worse at night, don't sleep and no painkillers work. I've tried everything but pain never goes away. Doctors are useless.
I am in the same position as you.
I find that some days i dont see the point in carring on but im not a quitter. i have had this since 2017. I have had verious differnt procedures and tests. i have to eat standing up because of the pain .
My social life well i dont have one any more. i cant sit down because of the pain. i cant drive. If i could get rid of the trapped wind i know that will make a lot of difference but every medication i have taken just increases the pain.
There has to be an answer somewhere lets hope we can find it?
Hi jellyfish, I take windeze after eating and that helps sometimes, nothing touches the pain. It's worse at night and keeps me awake, only sleep about 2 -3 hours a night if I'm lucky so I am permanently exhausted. I get very depressed and wonder what the point of carrying on, if I could sleep I think I could put up with it but the tiredness seems to make the pain a million times worse. I think the only answer is surgery which isn't always successful.
We'll just have to hang in there and put up with it.
Hi hope your feeling a bit more positive today. I dont where you live but I am in the south east uk. and the weather is absolutely beautiful which certainly makes feel slightly better.Have tried Windeze I feel them trying to work but they increase the pain. Are you aware that there are two types of Windeze.
Try and have a reasonable day.🤔
Thanks jellyfish, yes it's lovely today, does make me feel slightly better. It's mainly lack of sleep that makes me feel worse, a vicious cycle because of pain. I didn't know there were 2 types of windeze? Sometimes it doesn't work for me either. My GP prescribed mebeverine a while ago while I've only really just tried, it seems to help by relaxing the colon and allowing the gas to come out. I thought it was only for IBS d so I didn't try it for a while as I have IBS C but it seems to help.
Sleep is extremely difficult I totally understand. The other pills are called Wind Setlers they were prescribed by Gastroenterologist. They need to be the one that contains SIMETICONE . Mebeverine didn’t work for me.

Simeticone
Thanks,Yes I've tried wind settlers but they don't have as much simeticone as windeze.Have you tried buscopan or alverine citrate, they are also anti spasmodic they don't work for me but may do for you
Just curious if you have diverticulosis (presence of diverticula, benign, no side affects) or diverticultis (inflamed diverticula, lots of pain, serious complications)?
I've had diverticular disease for 14 years and it does not get better for some. Even when you're not having flares you have constipation, extreme flatulence, gas pains and after years your sigmoid becomes stagnant and reduced in size. Your stools are small and thin, abdominal pain sometimes wakes you up at night. If you don't have blood you're lucky, but many times you have pain without fever and you're never feeling well. My surgeon said that surgery is the only solution and I think I'm going to go for it. I cannot continue to live like this.
