My son (aged 40) has been diagnosed with IBS. He has had a sigmoid colonoscopy that was all clear. For 12 months now he has to go to the toilet about 6-10 times a day starting early in the morning till about 11am. No diarrhoea just lots of bowel movements. Doesn’t matter what he eats, tried everything, but the bigger the meal the more he goes. Tried everything like Imodium, no difference. Got an appointment at last to see doctor this week. Anyone got any advice? He is desperate now.

Is your son keeping a food-symptoms diary? It might help the doctor see exactly what is happening and might also back up what the issues are as some GPs can be a bit dismissive about these things and you need to be very determined to get to the right help some times.
Hope he gets the right help, keep us posted.
So sorry to hear that your son is suffering. Well done for him getting a doctors appt. Tell him to tell the doc everything and even take some questions written down if he thinks in the moment he may forget something. Keeping a food and symptom diary is a good idea too. all the best and good luck at the doctors
I have very much the same symptoms no diarrhea either and no blood. Mine may have been triggered by antibiotics due to diverticulitis. My biggest issue is cramping and rectal Tenesmus. I've tried many things but so far no answers. Getting a defecography soon and another sigmoidoscopy. Been on Lialda but not doing much.
Did he not have full colonoscopy ?
