Yes, I know. As Hippocrates already knew "all diseases start in the gut". Not sure all 😉

I’m thinking you know more than the gastroenterologists 😂🤣😀x

I don't hope so 😁

So it makes a lot of sense as to why they prescribe low dose antidepressants to help the serotonin levels

Yes, it does.

Interesting if extremely complicated, and bit too much for my brain. Would be good to have a summery if any ones able? I read some where that too much serotonin can cause problems, as can too little.

It's complicated for me too and don't understand everything by detail. I don't have a scientific background/education but just very interested/curious. Too much serotonin can lead to a serotonin syndrome. Too less and you may suffer from a lot of other health issues. For example I need to take an antidepressant because my gut isn't working well.

They are discovering more everyday about the gut brain connection. And also calling the gut the second brain due to the amount of nerve endings in it.

Maybe one day having ones head up ones arse may be considered a good thing?

Butt not today!

🤔😆

I think I've read somewhere that researchers concluded or found that a gut existed before the brain, if you think about evolution theory. So the gut is our first brain? 🤔 I'll try to look up the article and in the meantime we should be very gentle for our gut and hope that as a result it will be gentle for the rest of our body too.

Thinking with your stomach? The brain may have evolved to regulate digestion eurekalert.org/news-release...

Thanks for reply’s Meleber. Will look more when able. I’ve come so close to requesting antidepressants, but have such a terrible fear of getting worse, mainly due to family experience which is complicated.

You're welcome. Maybe you could try a single strain probiotic first? My experience, the hard way unfortunately, is that the 'recommended' dosage as stated on the labels can be way too much for your gut/body. So start low and go slow. The label on the jar I bought said 2 billion but I have to decrease it to 300 million now because of the adverse effects. So ended up buying a new jar with 300 million CFUs per capsule and will start again with this 'low' dosage.

I’ve taken home made water kefir, milk kefir. Take a combined ‘supplement called Permatrol by biocare which I find helps a lot. I’ve also taken Alflorex probiotics too. All a bit experimental as GP and even the gastroenterologist have very limited knowledge, as it’s all so complicated- we are such complicated beings.

Not what you're looking for?
