Rice333, I've had that and found high dose thiamine, I used Benfotiamine, and magnesium, I used magnesium glycinate based on my weight, has eliminated this in the middle of the night wake up call.
I get that very occasionally, can only describe it as like someone shoving a red hot poker up your bottom, it's very painful, usually get it at night but I had it when I went for a walk the other day. I sometimes do the 'downward dog' Yoga pose which helps it to pass. It's horrible, don't know what can be done, it may be something we have to live with.
Hi Yes I have the pain 24x7 it's debilitating.
I have been referred to the NHS Connect pain clinic in Eastbourne.
There is treatment..its on going at the moment..watch this space .

I definitely get this. I remember having it occasionally well before I got IBS, so I don't think it's because of IBS as such. It happens sometimes randomly more or less any time it likes, hurts like a b**ch, like no pain I ever had! I can go weeks or months without it though.
It doesn't seem to be related to bowel movements, flare ups, constipation, or any other thing. If it happens when I'm asleep it wakes me up for sure, but it can come any time of day or night,
The pain usually has me rolling around on the floor (or bed) but only lasts 10-20 minutes max. Then when it goes, it's gone completely. I have got used to how it is now, know there's no point taking a paracetamol or ibuprofen because it wouldn't have time to take effect. I have learned that all I have to do is wait it out. A shot of brandy has often sent it on its way and can work within about 3 minutes. But in the middle of the night I don't even want a drink, so I wait it out and it slowly disappears.
I remember I thought I had cancer when it first happened. The doctor said it was "proctalgia fugax". Wow, it's horrible.
One thing I haven't tried, and not sure these can be purchased without a prescription, and that is a Voltarol or painkiller suppository.
Hi I have pain killers suppositorys they don't work.
I've had a epidural pian blocker with the pain clinic , didn't work ether ,I'm waiting for my 2nd appointment on the the 30th with the pain clinic .
Hope your coping.
