I’m recently diagnosed with slow transit constipation and rectocele, awaiting treatment and currently trying resolor/prucalopride.
I am also having intermittent bladder nocturia, not sure if it’s related as no dr I have seen gives me the same answer or a straight answer.
I also get a very localised pain in my lower left pelvic area. I can literally put my finger on it and can’t seem to find a pattern of when it comes. Sometimes there, sometimes goes for a week or so.
Anyone relate?
Hi, I have slow transit and intussusception rectocele. I am due to have a resection rectopexy to remove intussusception and reduce length of colon. There are no guarantees but I am willing to try anything. After a year of trying a variety of medications with different side effects I have decided this is my only option. Without laxatives I would not open my bowels and take sodium pico sulphate twice a weeks and use suppositories. What do/have you used? I have the same lower back pain and can relate totally. Having taken prucalopride for 2 months I also relate. I suffered pelvic pain, cystitis, nausea, severe headaches and could not cope so was taken off. There is no cure apparently just a matter of finding how to cope. Hope this helps x
I also have intersussusception and rectocele. I use a personal irrigation system. It was prescribed by the colorectal nurse I see and I have been using it daily for several years. It takes time and getting used to but it is effective.
I am also interested in finding a long term surgical solution but I am nervous of the use of any mesh.
Can you please tell me the name and location of your surgeon? I recently had a rectopexy which has not improved my symptoms. I am trying to find a surgeon to give me a colon resection for redundant colon but am having no luck. I am tired of feeling Ill and have tried Everything imaginable in the past 13 years including bowel pacemaker and even fecal transplant. Nothing has helped.
The prucalopride gave me headache and nausea for a few days but no side effects now, they work a little but don’t feel like I’m fully emptying my bowel, I also take bisacodyl . If I don’t take anything I don’t go.
I also gave a tortuous colon but this is ossicle a side effect of the slow transit?
I’m curious about the irrigation system, will enquire at my next appointment.
Has anyone tried bio feedback?
There are two makes of irrigation system that I know of - Qufora and Peristeen.

Hello ShazR. I have (had) external full thickness rectal prolapse, rectal intussusception and rectocele. I had Ventral Mesh Rectopexy Surgery on the 19th March and it has cured the external prolapse and I can only presume also the rectocele but I am the 1 out of 5 for whom it does not improve the obstructed defecation caused by the intussusception. Have been taking gradually more and more laxatives as advised by my surgeon to "find a combination that works" for me - and they work for a few days and then not. And I have to make around 20-25 visits to the bathroom evacuating only a small amount of very runny stool each visit and even at the end I still have the feeling of incomplete evacuation. I've now prescribed prucalopride but I have not started taking them yet. I am curious to know if you have had your surgery and if you have if it worked? I am getting to the point where I think the only option is to have the lot taken out and have a stoma as I cannot see it would be any worse living with a stoma than it is living like this.
Yes, I have the same thing going on. I also have "weak pelvic floor" and am thinking of trying Prucolapride. Is it working for you? I have been taking Senna (a stimulant herbal laxative) for seven years and it's been working amazing, except today. I have produced only a few pebbles and I'm starting to get concerned, as usually I am on toilet all day, as I can only take it once a week. I am thinking, have you tried someone or even second or third opinion from someone more specialized like a Colon and Rectal Specialist or Gastroenterologist? Rather than just a family practitioner?
Hi yes I’m seeing a gastro and a colon specialist.
The prucalopride is working a little and is a lot less unpredictable than the bisacodyl so I’m persevering!
Keep me posted on the Pruculopride. I think it is also known as Motegrity..or Resolor. I want to try this but nervous..because I didn't have the best reaction to Linzess, Amitiza or Trulance..

Unfortunately the prucalopride hasn’t worked at all the last couple of days 
I don’t mind putting up with feeling ill for a couple of weeks if something works well.
Will check out the other things you have mentioned as not tried any of those xx
Hi..There is another good one. They took it off shelves in 2005, but it worked so well in many people with IBS-C..There was a lot of pressure. It just got FDA approved again April 1st. It's called Zelnorm (Tegarasod). I guess we just have to keep having hope. So tired of no quality of life. 😳
Thanks Eliana, yes it’s hard to keep positive sometimes but I am just keeping my options open, trying new things and getting as much info as I can xx
We have the same thing..slow transit and I have a weak Pelvic floor. So if I find something that works, I will share with you if okay, and if you find something, you can pm me if you want. I'm desperate to find relief. x
