Popping sensation in bowel area, Help!

I have been experiencing popping/ bubbling and weird movements in my bowel/pelvic area for months now it’s like a discomfort which makes it hard for me to sleep at night and is just annoying me throughout the day. I also get pain and bloating, however it is not triggered by anything and is just there all the time.

If anyone has any theories of what they think it may be please reply.

Hi there, i have similar symptoms. No pain and sometimes sensation of needing urgent bowel movement but otherwise really similar. I think some of it is gas bubbles moving around but i have not found anything that consistently helps and no tests on nhs have found anything amiss. Could it be something you are eating or drinking? Have you tried gas relieving over the counter medications? Do you know what first triggered it in case that provides a clue?

I honestly tried every gas relieving medications and nothing has worked I tried a fodmap diet and cutting certain foods out and I was still having it’s nothing I’m eating and what first triggered it was when I had diarrhoea and from then this thing just started.

Hi, have you tried mastic gum? I had similar problems and am on mastic gum right now and the bubbling sensation seems to have gone away.

Hi - low Fodmap and elimination diets don't help me either. I do sometimes have symptom free days and other days it is really bad and I cant sleep. It drives me nuts. The NHS call it "functional bloating" since I do tend to bloat up sometimes and they can't call it IBS since I don't have any changes to stools (or at least not much). I have had an endoscopy, colonoscopy and various stool tests to look for celiac, IBD etc and nothing has come up so the NHS have said nothing more they can do. No gastro has shown any interest to get to the root cause. I did pay for a private SIBO test that came up positive but the antibiotics and herbal antibiotics (and vitamin pills) I have tried over the past couple of years have not resolved my symptoms so that may be a dead end for me but perhaps something for you to look into.

I have been dealing with this for over a year now and trust me when I say The days it’s really bad it drives in insaneeee to the point I can not handle. And I’m definitely going to look into getting the SIBO test because that’s sound like something I may have and we’ll see how that goes. I’m also going to look into doing more tests through the functional gut clinic in London which I will have to pay for but at this point I have no choice because no gastro is paying attention either. And in your case it definitely sounds like you have some sort of bacteria or parasite maybe you could do a breath test or a smart pill test which measures the function of your bowel by taking measurements of your PH etc.

If you do get any answers please do update us because it would be really interesting to know. I am 3 years into this journey! The smart pill test is a good idea and is on my list of future investigations as is a CT/MRI scan. At present I am doing a few weeks of gut directed hypnotherapy as a private gastro I am seeing wonders if the SIBO has been resolved as well as possible (it does not always fully respond to antibiotics etc) but there is a brain-gut feedback loop prolonging or making my symptoms worse. He also recommended doing the Elemental Diet for 2 weeks (a liquid diet that can kill of bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine and also helps the gut to rest). But if that does not work I will need to shell out for more private tests.

Apparently, oregano oil may help with SIBO. Also, as above you may wish to consider mastic gum.

Thanks 1absolutebeginner1. Strangely oregano oil is the only thing that I have really reacted to - it caused quite a bit of gut pain. However, i will look into the mastic gum idea and thanks for your advice, much appreciated.

Something similar. Bubbling in the right lower quadrant of my abdomen. Don't know yet why it's happening. Could be trapped gas produced by the gut bacteria. Trapped because of fecal impaction but have to find out what's causing the fecal impaction, why there seems to be problems with my bowel motility. I will see the gastroenterologist next week and hopefully will find out sometime what's the real cause. Till now the working diagnosis is IBS.

Same that’s what they said to me also and the working diagnosis is also IBS but I’m know it’s not IBS and it’s something else, keep us updated on this thread I would love to hear what they said x

Have you had a stool or breath test for h pylori

I had a stool test but I haven’t had a breath test.

H pylori?

Malis444 profile image
Malis444 in reply to

No haven’t done that either

You can get the kits fromHome Heath Uk

Go to the site and look up professional tests tab. H pylori stool, and calprotectin stool test kits. Lateral flows

You can also get the lateral flow blood kits for h pylori which I would get both
