I take amodlopine, however, MY IBS started long before and has not gotten any worse after taking the BP drug.

Yes, I take both drugs and my IBS started before I took this medication.

Hi, I have high blood pressure. I take betablockers (Atenolol) for mine. I have been on them for many years now. Previously to these I had water tablets but they didn't agree with my IBS. I also tried ace inhibitors (Ramipril) but they didn't agree with my IBS either. Betablockers tend to have a calming effect on the body, so I wonder if it might be worth discussing with your doctor. Although I don't think they tend to prescribe betablockers for high blood pressure now. But it still might be worth discussing with your GP. I was on the contraceptive pill for many years (17 -34) when I was young, I often wondered if that's what gave me the high blood pressure but equally it could have been the IBS that gave me the high blood pressure or it might have been something else!

Yes, I take the same meds and more recently developed IBS. I originally thought I suffered side effects of these meds but no, GP confirmed IBS. I have also gained weight from this and believe it to have caused my food cravings too! Presently I'm in the middle of feeling really down about the weight gain and having no mojo to diet and loose the weight, vicious circle!!!

Hi Jan

Did your gp say how s(he) knew it wasn't the meds causing your IBS?
