Hi I did a hair strand test a while back and after illuminating the foods I'm intolerant too have felt so much better. unfortunately I'm 99% intolerant to coconut oil which is in so many things even the cappuccino coffees I was drinking everyday, so it's not been easy but so worth being symptom free most of the time. Good luck with it x

Save your money as there are no reliable tests for intolerances only allergies. The most common culprits for intolerance are dairy and gluten. You have to eliminate suspected foods and if your symptoms get better reintroduce those foods until you find the culprits. What are your symptoms? Fodmap helps to reduce bloating.

Agree. Spent a fortune on intolerance tests including the York (£££) and nothing worked until I stuck religiously to a low Fodmap diet for three months and also reduced my sugar intake at the same time. I slowly tried reintroducing the higher fodmaps one at a time and found what works for me. I take a probiotic to heal my gut flora and use peppermint, white and green tea instead of higher caffeine. It's still early days but after many years of slow deterioration I am at last pain free and have a working bowel. Initially I had to think about every meal but I found a lot of really nice substitutes and meals which worked and now it is relatively easy and I have a little bit of tolerance for eating out and the occasional slip up.

That York lab is a complete waste of money. The follow up call I had was a joke! Glad to hear Fodmap is working for you. You can get help from a dietician through the NHS and free booklets too.

Thank you. I think am going to go back to my doctor and see if I can get more support.

I've done the sensitivity test with check my body health and it highlighted gluten and wheat as high sensitivity which was good to know but it also stated I had some sensitivity to rice, except wild rice and oranges, two of the main foods I ate when I did the low FODMAP diet so in some ways it makes it more difficult to find gluten free foods without rice or even soy in them as this is meant to be something I have to avoid. Although when my IBD team did a test a few years ago to see if I was coeliac and or had any gluten intolerance it said I was okay. So now I'm not sure which is correct.

For the past month I've avoided gluten bit had some shop bout foods with rice flour in them. I've switched to hemp milk instead of rice milk. There are some other foods like almonds, tomatoes and prawns are red flags apparently. But onion and garlic the red flags in the Low FODMAP diet are okay but I've avoided them the best I can and used alternatives in my cooking.

So at the moment I'm eating foods of Low FODMAPs and green flags from the food sensitivity test. I think at the moment it's too early to say if it's having any positive difference to my symptoms which is IBS- C and constant left sided abdomen pains as I've also started taking psyllium husk from Holland and barret too which is helping ease the constipation. Once I've done this for a few more weeks I'll start reintroducing certain foods again.

Please don't waste your money - the official advice is that these are not accurate and a waste of time:bda.uk.com/resourceDetail/p...

The only true test is elimination & reintroduction diet.

Get nhs gluten n dairy tests.

Other tests not accurate.

If doing fodmap if ut doesnt work after 8 weeks dont stay on it.keep a food diary.

Commom foox ibs triggers are onions mushrooms, fizzy dtinks, beer.

Wholemeal flour and artifical sweetners.

Ready made meals deserts often fill of these.
