Is this common in IBS?

I just went to the toilet and struggled to get my stool out because I have IBS-C. However, when I did there was quite a large amount of green mucus. I have had mucus in my stool before, ranging from different colours but it seemed like a lot more than normal and it also smelt quite bad and my food seemed as if it hadn’t been digested too well either. Can this be a common thing to happen sometimes for people with IBS or should I be speaking to my doctor about it?

Mucus is common, but maybe you could call your doc just put your mind at ease.

The colour might be to do with something you have recently eaten.

Hi there perhaps you could ask your doc for a stool softener to make it easier to pass I have severe constipation and take optifibre and movicol it works really well x

Anything that you are concerned about should really be discussed with your doctor.

I think this can happen, however always a good idea to give your doctor a call, especially if it happens again. Hope it doesn't.
