More antibiotics

Another lot of antibiotics to shove down my throat, my stomach has been ok for a while and now it’s going to be disrupted by these tablets. What can I take to minimize the effect it’s going to have on my stomach, I’m so scared to take them because they upset my stomach but need to take them for a raging ear infection. Any advice or suggestions would be so welcomed. Please help thanks for reading

Hi cimmy sorry your poorly I’ve always had trouble with antibiotics , I’ve read other people take a probiotic to minimise the effects of them as it’s common that antibiotics kill good gut bacteria x

Hi pansy thanks for your reply, I’ve got some actimel drinks to take but I’ve not long got over a 4 month flare up and I just don’t want to go back there, I had the most horrendous time. I’m just so anxious which is just adding fuel to the fire. I’ve gotta put on my big girl knickers and just bite the bullet I suppose. Thanks again x

Hi Cimmy

Probiotics would be the best thing to take. I take Alflorex probiotics which have been specifically created for IBS by scientists, they are working for me.

Thinking of you.

Hi Linda

I bought mine through Ebay. Precision Biotics are the company that makes them but they're more expensive. It might be worth writing to Precision Biotics, say they've been recommended by someone and ask if they're will6to offer you a free trial.

You are most welcome, if I can help I will.

I have the same trouble, even just one tablet sets me off. The only thing I can suggest really is to take a good probotic to replemish the good bacteria in the gut, and drink more water to flush out the toxins more. I have got Otis Media in my ears, at the moment I am just putting up with it as the antibotics wipe me out and make me very ill indeed.

I hope you feel better soon

Best wishes

Hi debs, thank you for your kind reply, I’m never very good with antibiotics but I need them at the moment, feel like damned if I do and damned if I don’t. I’m trying to drink a lot but it’s hard sometimes, I will try probiotics but some of them upset my stomach as well. Stay well, stay safe

Bless you Linda, thats horrible. Have you tried chlorophyll? I am taking liquid chlorophyll once a week and it seems to be helping, the one I purchased was potent. One of the more gentle on the stomach antibotics is called Erythromycin - Gastro Resistant Tablets this is the one I will take if its absolutely essential

Best of luck 🙃

Hi, take a multi strain probiotic like Bio Kult.. or drink Kefir/Actimel .. helps me. Lots of water, good luck x

I lived in India for 4 years where they routinely prescribe tablet form probiotics to take after anti-biotics. Wish you well

As you are aware, taking antibiotics can upset the balance of good bacteria in your gut since antibiotics can kill off good bugs too. This means that bad bugs in the gut may come to the fore which can cause antibiotic associated diarrhea. Anyone taking antibiotics can help guard themselves against this type of diarrhea by taking Saccharomyces Boulardii which is a beneficial yeast at the same time as the antibiotic and for 2 weeks to a month afterwards. If you take probiotics whilst taking antibiotics, the probiotics are likely to be killed off by the antibiotics since they are also (good) bacteria. Since Saccharomyces Boulardii is a beneficial yeast, it will help protect your good bugs, but it won't be affected by the antibiotics so can be taken at the same time. If you start to become constipated on Saccharomyces Boulardii, this suggests that it has or is doing its job and it might be possible to come off of them. Once you are no longer on antibiotics, you could take a good probiotic for a month or so too, just to help bring things back in balance. There are clinical studies that Saccharomyces Boulardii reduces the chances of antibiotic associated diarrhea and I do find it annoying that doctors are unable to prescribe this at the same time as antibiotics. It could also help guard against people getting IBS in the first place, since in some people, IBS is initially triggered by taking antibiotics and ending up with a gut bacterial imbalance as a result.

I also use take Alflorex and has been a little miracle for me. They take time to kick in so be patient. I do not have diagnosed IBS but long term bloating and discomfort. It has changed my life. My doctor suggested the other good probiotic was Symprove but is very expensive. She said these two have had proper scientific tests done. Most probiotics do not survive the stomach acids to reach the gut so don’t waste your money. Good luck.

Not sure. Sorry!🤭

Ear infections...some things you can try instead of antibiotics which i use with success.Garlic water...boil water and pour onto crushed raw garlic....and allow to cool ...use a dropper into affected ear.

Hydrogen peroxide 2% works equally well.

Try allilum capsules (dried garlic) one per day seems to reduce most infections, ear, teeth gums.

Gargle sodium bicarb...if you think its eustacheon tube related.

Thank you for your very informative reply, I will definitely be giving some these a try as I suffer regular ear infections and I feelLike I’m always on antibiotics. I do try ear drops and the antibiotics are a last resort. I have tried many things but the garlic one sounds very interesting and I will certainly give it a go. Thank you and take care

Hi Cimmy. I’m right there with you! I started taking Alflorex 2 months ago and I am convinced they have helped me. I also make sure I have natural yoghurt every morning together with both Actimel and Yakult. I am petrified each time I think I may need to take antibiotics as well. I know this may sound like overkill but since I have been doing this I can say without hesitation that my gut has been much, much better. Hope this helps and I hope you get your gut bacteria sorted out soon.
