I've never tried peppermint oil but peppermint tea surprised me no end when it seemed to calm the intestines. Still trialling it.

Best wishes.

I take it when I’m windy/colicky and it does help. When I’m really colicky I take collis brown liquid, it has peppermint oil and a tiny bit of morphine so relaxes the bowel.

Where do you get that from?

I was told by my doc that it was fine, just not at the same time as acid reflux mds.

I haven't tried it, but for information it is best to take the enteric coated form so it is delivered to the intestines. I used to take peppermint oil drops in water regularly to help with gas, but I ended up with GERD (acid reflux) and I wondered if the drops contributed to this, since peppermint can weaken the valve that sits between the stomach and the throat allowing acid to flow back causing reflux. This is why it is important to take the enteric coated form so it is delivered lower down the digestive tract.

Yes, true. Peppermint can cause reflux for some.

Thank you. Very good advice

I use peppermint oil capsules and peppermint tea when I feel bloated as I feel they help to relieve it for me.

I used Colpermin for many years and it did have some impact on wind and motility

I had them on prescription for years to manage wind and bloating and they worked to some extent, certainly made my farts smell a bit sweeter!
