I have been trying for years to get a blue badge for my car and they keep refusing me on the grounds that I am only disabled when I void involuntarily.
I, however, say I am mentally disabled 24/7 as the possibility of an attack never leaves my mind. I even dream about being taken short.
Has anyone else ever been refused or granted a disability badge for ibs?

I have never tried to get one even though I have had IBS for many years. I thought the criteria was not being able to walk unaided for a certain number of yards. I don't honestly think they would class IBS as a disability, even though it is if you suffer from it.
some people automatically qualify, due to being in receipt of a disability benefit, for others the following applies,
you have an enduring and substantial disability or condition, which means that making a journey is extremely difficult. This could be due to the physical act of walking, or because of a ‘non-physical’ disability, which means that walking is dangerous, or that public and open spaces causes very considerable psychological distress
I was granted one on the grounds of IBS and anxiety disorder so its definitely allowed, maybe a letter from your doctor along with your dispute?
It really depends on your council as it is they who assess you. Some councils seem to be much more understanding of people's situation than others. I also have ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory arthritis of the spine. On a bad day it is incredibly difficult to get out of a car unless the door is wide open and pain and stiffness can start at any time yet many people with the disease are told they do not qualify for a badge.
Hi if you had need to carry items/changes of clothes etc with you due to it then more likely to get
Did you have someone help you when filling out the form? My husband suffers from mild Asperger's and anxiety/depression so he gets overwhelmed easily. We tried filling out the form ourselves but got denied the blue badge, the next time we made an appointment with the council so someone helped us to fill out his form and he was granted a blue badge after that.
