Hi what is anyone's experience while taking Apixaban. I have been diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. I have read the leaflet and it's scared me stiff. I don't want to bleed from anywhere. My Consultant says it's up to me but I have a 3% chance of a stroke. I don't know what to do. Thanks

Apixaban what is your reaction to this !!
I had bilateral pulmonary embolisms 6 years ago and was put on Warfarin. That didn't suit me so was changed to Apixaban. I have had no side effects at all. Following treatment for a brain tumour, I had a TIA 16 years ago, and they still thought that Apixaban was safe, so I wasn't worried.
Hi learning2me,
I have been diagnosed with AF nearly a year ago now plus I have high blood pressure. I am taking 5 mg Apixaban twice daily and 50 mg Metocor twice daily also 5 mg of Amlodipine once daily. I have side effects such as feeling very fatigued and pains and aches in my muscles. I think I might be on too high a dose. Can anyone suggest what dosage I should be on or what the normal dose should be.
Regards,
Clarr
I have been on it for a number of years and no side effects and no bleeding. There is an AF forum here on health unlocked which is excellent and where you can get a lot of information and support.
I take it and don’t give it a second thought. I get scratched by my cat and I don’t bleed any different. I think if you had a big accident yes, but they have procedures for these tablets.
Folk on here go to the dentist etc.....try not to worry
A stroke is serious, so these are little helpers and they seem to not give most of us any problems I’ve taken mine two years,
