Amitriptyline for Gut Issues
amitriptyline Is used to calm the body its was used for people with depression they found out it lowers pain and started to prescribe to people who have lots of pain issues it's supposed to send signals to the brain it's best taken a few hours before bedtime to help you sleep, lots of people don't like it because it makes them drowsy, I stopped taken them for that reason,
If I have a flare- up I will take Amitriptyline till it settles down - Amitryptilin helps with the anxiety and it’s the anxiety that keeps the condition getting worse, so breaking that cycle helps. It does make you sleepy though but when I have it I need to go to bed, anyhow, so sleepiness isn’t a problem.
You need something else though to deal with the actual symptoms
I've been on amitriptyline for eight months and it's really helped me. I do still have episodes, but only about once every three weeks I stead if three every week. I have insomnia too so that has really improved.
