I suffer from really bad trapped wind which is really painful and also diarrhoea which is really bad I get terrible stomach pains I've had this flare up for a week now it wakes me in my sleep to go to toilet which then leaves me exhausted the next day . Normally when I have a flare up it is better after 4 days . This time is alot worse I dont know why it is so different this time . I know we all have a worrying time at the moment with what is going on in the world . So am thinking is it because am worried so much more then normal .
Flare up: Hi everyone I was diagnosed with with... - IBS Network
Flare up
I have suffered from IBS since 2004 and I when I have a flare up it causes the most atrocious pain
I take Mebeveyine and Probiotic tablets
It is essential you watch your diet
The body and mind are connected
If your stress levels go sky high it is the body’s ways of reacting to stress
I suffer from stress and anxiety but very important you learn to be kind to yourself and try to rationalise your anxiety step by step
Thanks for reply. Yeah I suffer with anxiety also and I think your right I think they are sky high this time round cause am not normally this bad . I've been trying to settle myself down on alot of occasions. This one has really got me I've been cutting dairy out at the moment and all I've been drinking is boiled water
Stress and fodmaps, the worst combo out there. Have you tried the fodmap diet? Total God send!
No I've not tried it I've just been eating bland foods
Download Monash university fodmap app and have a look through the foods, sometimes even bland food (bananas, crackers) are full of fodmaps to give upset stomachs. Maybe when the virus is over with, ask to be referred to a fodmap dietitian. This diet works for 70% of IBS cases, mostly IBS-D
Thank you I will download it now and have a look
Also, I tried all the diets too. Didn't help. Gastro said that my gut physically works fine then. He didn't think it was dietary because I had been fine for such long periods. My seretonin levels crashed causing a short circuit if the system. Stress/anxiety can cause or be the symptom of this.
I have the exact same story. Had it in my 20s for a few years. Came back and annihilated me in my 40s. After much testing and based on the anxiety it started in me I decided it had to be a seretonin issue. I got a specialist and started drug experiments. When I found the right drug...it was better in 2 weeks. Not the anxiety fully. But the gut. Near 18 months of IBS misery and it just took 2 weeks on the right drug to fix it. I definitely have some sort of neurotransmitter deficiency. Probably genetic. I suggest you give some SSRIs a try.
Thank you yes I will do
