Viberzi?

Has anyone had success with Viberzi for IBS-D? I’ve been on the medication for almost a year and had seemed to help my symptoms tremendously. Just wondering if others have had as much success with treating their condition..well the symptoms lol we all know there’s not a “miracle pill” out there as I’m sure we’ve tried it all. Viberzi seemed to get rid of all the cramping and stomach pains, still get all the gas and indigestion. It did take the medication a solid 4-5 months t completely regulate. When I first started, I wasn’t sure it was doing anything..I mean I could feel it in my gut after I would take it, just not sure if it was making the symptoms better. I tried to get off of it twice, the first time was about 4 months after I started..made it almost a full month before one day I had the WORST stomach cramping ever..took the Viberzi and everything seemed fine again. Tried getting off of it again around Christmas (7 months on it) and only lasted about 4 days before the liquid shits began (I’m sure all of the Christmas food did it :/ ) so I haven’t tried to get off of it again. I’m just concerned because it is considered an opiate that reacts with the opiate receptors in the gut. I didn’t feel any sort of withdraw after stopping it..just curious to see what others have experienced :)

Hey I have heard of it and seems like it has worked for a lot of people! Are you in the uk? I was going to ask my gp to try this but after some googling it seems it isn’t recommended for routine prescription in Scotland for some reason...may still ask my gp about it!

I’m in the US..may have something to do with it being considered a controlled substance? It really is great, although I don’t really have anything to compare to lol. I tried Xifaxan as well which is supposed to be taken for two weeks to control the bacteria in the gut and allow it to go back to normal. It worked while I was on it but then the ibs came back as soon as I stopped.
