Citalopram

Went to doctors yesterday as going from loose stools to not passing anything formed . Had endoscopy and she is referring me for a ct scan as everything in stomach was normal . Doctor gave 10mg to take 1a day . He said they use this to help IBS . But I'm unsure . Is anyone else on this . Just would like some feedback on this tablet .

I on constella 290 and buscopan . Some times if I get constipated I take a laxido . I go between constipation and then loose stools . . Thanks for you reply

Hi I’m on 10mg and it certainly has its advantages... my IBS changes from nothing much but old fashioned gripe to the strangest nipping and spasm pain but citalopram definitely eases the overall BM issues

I also take mebeverine MR which helps the loose stool

Thanks for your reply I on constella 290 to help the pain and buscopan . So will give it a go .

Hello I’ve just been diagnosed with IBS can you tell me if Citalopram helped you with IBS thanks

It's an SSRI like Amitriptyline. Sometimes used as an IBS treatment in the doses you are prescribed. In higher doses it's an antidepressant.
