Baseline SIBO test - Hydrogen Sulfide SIBO?

Hey Everyone,

I'm interested to hear from anyone regarding SIBO tests - I've had the same result twice now with my SIBO tests

Very, very minimal amount of Hydrogen & methane in the small intestine (Basically, a baseline SIBO), before elevation of Hydrogen in transit (which I'm told is perfectly normal)

Basically - it' appears I have the healthiest small intestine in the world according to SIBO tests!

I've been doing some research & there are some suggestions that a 3rd gas could exist, Hydrogen Sulfide & that a negative / baseline SIBO test could indicate just that.

Has anyone else had a negative / baseline SIBO. What did you do after the result?

Hi - that sounds like it could be hydrogen sulphide. There is a breathe test for this in development in usa - expected in next few months. I think the treatment is the same as with hydrogen dominant but low sulfar as well as low fodmap diet. If you ask around on a sibo facebook group i think you will get more responses as this is little known in uk

Interesting, do you have an article or a web link for the US based breath test?

I *think* that it is under development by Dr Pimental a GI doc at Sinai-Cedars Hospital in USA. I heard about it on a US facebook forum on SIBO called SIBO SOS. It is really worth joining as they have both free and pay to view workshops with various experts and lots of free advice on the community forum. It is mainly US based but there are a few UK peeps on it and I have learnt a lot there.

Hi

Following a recent lactulose-based test (Invivo/DSL), Im interested to know your views on results including:

(i) Is 30% above limit hydrogen (positive result) very high?

(ii) Is a non-standard profile (1 peak only) significant?

(iii) Views on reported controversy in test methods?

(iv) Anyone you know sorted SIBO with motility solutions eg 5HTP?

(v) If a/biotics used, which best & why? Can increase some carbs during treatment (standard approach indicates no)?

Not what you're looking for?
