Hi I've had a really bad upper viral infection since January this year. Bad hacking cough, tickly throat and all the other comman viral symptoms. I've had a dry tickly cough now on and off for about 3 and a bit months. And also still get a bit of a sore scratchy dry throat now and again. I've been to docs they have also said it's viral and they have also seen other people who have had viral infections since last November and viruses seem to be lasting longer. Is my sore throat and on and off dry cough due to irratation of the Airways from viral infection and now is post viral or something else? Can anyone else relate?

Sorry wrong category just realised but any answers
Hi,
I definitely think that infections of the kind you describe hang around for a very long time. I caught a cold (unusual for me) at the end of October 2018, this lasted until January and then left me with hacking cough until the beginning of February. This has now subsided into the sort of dry tickle you write of. I don't have the on/off sore throat but my guess is it's all related and I hope both of us get rid of it soon!

Thankyou so much for your answer it has really helped and feels like I'm not on my own with it
Yep I think I relate had my cough 5 weeks now. Seems like it is never going. Do you get pain in your head when you cough? Anyway hope we all get better soon.
I don't get any head pain just an irritating cough now and again. You do question is it ever going to go away. I hope we all get better soon also
Yes I too have had the virus since January I have done two sputum samples and both different had antibiotics 2 courses as I have respiratory problems and still have the cough no sore throat, hope we are all well very soon!
Have you considered hay fever? I always get a pollen related tickly cough at this time of year which I treat with a simple antihistamine.
