Hi all anyone else suffering from this flu bug that's doing the rounds, I have been trying to get rid of it since Christmas, plenty of lemsip and cough medicine, turns out that they were a trigger for my Ibs D,who knew!! D flare up + uncontrollable coughing bouts = something that can only be equal to a walk through a milking parlor if you get my meaning, but to the point of this post, after three days of this the imodium had stopped working the situation was grim,in desperation I turned back to an old experiment that had worked for a while then stopped, so I didn't bother with it again, well I still have the flu I still need the cough medicine and I am now on day five and a coughing fit doesn't have me running backwards from the room, and the name of this wonder solution, silicol gel, which just goes to show the sheer unpredictablity of our condition, and that if at this moment something is not doing it for us it doesn't mean it never will again and perhaps the money we spend on new things with short term effect might not be a total waste, hope the epic post may help someone. Love Calli

I had this bug over Xmas. It totally ruined my Xmas. No temperature but apart from that all the symptoms of flu including the cough but worse was feeling like I wanted to die. Utterly wretched and tired. No appetite. And as usual it brought on really bad ibs which I always get with any Illness or stress. Only now am I improving.

Hi wifflesnook thanks for your reply, it seems this bug is taking most of the country by storm it's so miserable my other half had it before Christmas and despite antibiotics and steroids it still hasn't shifted, you think you can't feel any worse, but if you have ibs the bottom falls out of your world, literally but what I have taken from this is that if you return to something you felt you had wasted money on on this occasion it might work , it is always worth a try, and it could be a way of minimizing our losses because let's face it most of us will try anything once and this has shown me that I should at least try at least twice, glad to hear you are on the mend hope you continue to improve and keep well. It's a horrid bug! My Partner had it for 5 weeks and has only just shifted it. I've had it for 5 weeks tomorrow and still can't shift it.

Hi Matthewr73 you poor things, you have my sympathies and as I know when two of you in the same house hold have it you tend to wallow in and feed off each other's misery, but that said you have to keep going for the other, and it seems nothing can shift it other than it's own sweet time, I am glad to hear your partner is starting to mend and hope you recover quickly.
