Hi all, I haven't been diagnosed with ibs yet but for three days I have had very watery stool and excess gas. I phoned my doctor and she told me to leave it another 10days and then she would test for IBS. What symptoms do I look out for to know for definate?

Right now it sounds like it could be infection as watery stool and excess gas go hand in hand. So treat it like that and stick to a bland diet for now. If you have a history of this then you need to go and have a bunch of tests to rule out so many other things before you can start thinking about a diagnosis.

Have you read Dr. Micheal Mosley books : There were a few BBC programmes on TV few weeks ago on where he covered various topics including IBS.

Silicol Gel made by Saguna is excellent - bit pricey so look on Mysupermarket for cheapest. Boots, Tesco and Amazon UK sell it too. ( Amazon sell it both liquid and satchet form ) Read reviews.

Hope this helps , blue and white box ✨

Forgive my ignorance, but I was not aware that there was a 'test' for IBS??

My doctor told me she could test via blood tests and stool samples

All your doctor can do is rule out everything else that could be causing your symptoms. IBS is a catch-all for functional bowel disorders that have no pathological (physical) cause. It is usually a Central Nervous System issue and there is no test for this.
