Referal to gastroentologist

So my doctor has referred me to a gastroentologist following a stool test.

Been having mild cramps, pain and discomfort in my lower left side which doc think may be IBS.

She says my stool results is at around level 6 which is low but wants to to have a gastroentologist to have a look. And also find out what was causing the blood I get sometimes.

What kind of stuff will the gastroentologist do?

Right now, there is no pain, I stopoed taking IBS tablets for a while. I get some falre ups now and tgen, but I feel fine. Is it still best to carry on with the appointment?

She said it will take around 6 to 8 werks before one can see me.

Yes, do go to the Gastro appointment 6/8 weeks it is not a bad waiting time-he/she will probably do a colonoscopy which looks into the colon to see if anything is causing your pain eg inflammation. If anything it will put your mind at rest. Good Luck

Definitely see the gastroenterologist. They may do blood tests, and most likely a colonoscopy.
