IBS / H. Pylori

Hi all. I've been told I have IBS but it seems that the Doc's don't really know what my tum issues are caused by so they get irritated & that's the umbrella label that they give me, maybe to make me happy that I've had a diagnosis! I have a feeling that H. Pylori is back and is the root of the problem. But not much seems to be known about it by the Docs/Gastro's. I'm surprised that I can't find a H. Pylori Community on here. When I consult 'Dr Google', (sticking to reputable websites) H. Pylori seems to be linked to loads of tum, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Cancer, etc etc, problems. Your thoughts please?

Hi. I had severe stomach issues on and off for about a year. This March it was awful and for four weeks I was fobbed off with pills etc. I researched my symptoms and asked the doc for a h.pylori stool test. He was reluctant for some reason and a bit dismissive. Anyway he did the test and it was positive. I was treated with the triple therapy combo. This made me so ill I couldn’t leave the house. Since then my problems haven’t changed much and after a endoscopy and scan which was clear I have been put under the IBS umbrella too. After much trial and error I have thrown all my prescribed pills/sachets away and an treating myself with supplements. Also keeping a food diary. My symptoms have lessened and I have learned to listen to my body. I take magnesium, a digestive enzyme, a probiotic and Dida tablets. Plenty of water too. Hope this helps a bit.

That's weird. I never did test positive for H. Pylori but they gave me the triple eradication as they found a duodenal ulcer. They said H. Pylori causes them. But then I learn that the Diclofenac anti-inflammatories that I used to take could cause them too. A biopsy showed I was clear. BUT.. a year after my now Wife and I started our relationship (she was previously fit as a flea) she became unwell and proved positive for H. Pylori. So - was my negative test result false? Did I give it to my Wife? Do I need testing again to check that I didn't get it back from her before she had it eradicated? I've read that all family members, and pets!, should be treated at the same time. At the same time my Wife was diagnosed with Hypercalcaemia and Hyperparathyroidism(a benign tumour on a Parathyroid Gland) - both of which 'Dr Google' says can be triggered by H. Pylori. And my tum symptoms are back. And if you type 'Is h. pylori a Carcinogen?' into Google, it says yes :-( I've given up on the NHS. My next option is to get thoroughly tested (stool samples etc) by Genova Diagnostics (or similar). Good luck with your health Gonewiththewind44

Hey

I have had ibs along time which got worse about 18 months ago after having antibiotics... which gave me candida and it was awful.

I know about h pylori and i would say to u if u have got it or u think u have do not bother with test just treat it naturally as it could b that u just have a low gut health or ibs or candida and the h pylori tripple treatment is BRUTAL....

Most people that do it end up worse as it literally shreds ur stomach apart and ur take months if not years suffering.

So treat ur gut health and that it could b any of the above but natural.

So probiotics are a MUST... and at least two a day to begin with( not the yoghurts or drinks, proper tablets) never with hot food or drink it kills the bacteria before it gets to gut .

Then u need a digestive enzyme( break down foods ie fat, makes it easier on gut to digest)

Then a good peppermint capsule( ur gut loves the stuff, bad things hate it)

Liquorice , either tablets or tea.

Green tea, it a anti oxidont.

Try to cut out sugar, yeast and gluten and dairy id u can just for a couple weeks it helps immune, gut health and if it candida or h it feeds of sugar yeast and bad things!!

I did this for my candida and VOILA IT GONE!

Kept to it more or less and my ibs gone to.

Good luck

Hi Lulububs. I make and take my own milk kefir. And my symptoms improve when I take Symprove - but it is expensive and the symptoms return when I stop. It's a bugger :-(

Its a strange thing isnt it.. i couldnt take symprove it ruined me,actually made me so ill i couldnt stop being sick and keep anything in, i felt like it stripped my stomach red raw... then when i asked them if it had fake yeast or gluten in they said “ not that we know”?? I intolerant to both so it must have it in there.

I take bioglan gut flora( coz i travel

Alot and u dont have to keep it in a fridge) cytoplans good and so is natures best.

I was told by a gastro to mix it up dont always take same ones as ur gut becomes used to them.

So i just swap between them.

I also use “DIDA” a natural mixture of all herbs that kill bad bacteria in gut and they are good to. Abit expensive but i take one every other day now as ive been taking 18 months so it was at begining i needed them every other day.

I found giving up yeast, sugar and gluten was best thing i did
