Just want some advice

I feel like poo. I have indigestion nearly always after eating or drinking, especially meat or carbonated drinks. I often have either constipation or the opposite but I feel stupid wasting a GPs time for what is not urgent. I wonder if anyone else has had similar symptoms and knew of practical ways to improve things. I'm sure I could make changes to my lifestyle which would help but just don't know what.

Hi-hang in there!

A couple of things that have helped me immensely. One is I got treated for Candida with a prescription. Not all docs think you can get Candida of the gut but once I did this I felt markedly better. The other is digestive enzymes. I take two with any larger meals and they have changed my life. I don’t have to take any more antacids or anything else for heartburn or reflux. I use a brand called pure encapsulations but there are many types out there. I too had trouble with meat and certain other foods and this helped and also helped me get regular.

Good Luck!

You are not wasting the doctor's time. You are paying for his time through your taxes, assuming you are in the UK.

I am in the UK and I know I can do some practical things to help myself before I see a GP. I want to make sure I don't overlook the small lifestyle changes I can make which would make a big difference before asking for medical assistance.

OK, I understand, but just keep in mind that you are entitled to the care.

Hi Robinsonj0

I have IBS and have been able to manage it for the past 18 months or so.

I kept a food diary and eliminated those foods that i found were upsetting my system (just for a few weeks), i slowly reintroduced them but i limit the quantity now.

I have also been for a couple of colonics and they actually helped me, i felt lighter and fresher and psychologically made me want to eat healthier due to that fresher feeling!

The lady that did that did actually advise me that i had candida of the gut !

I also use slimatee that i buy from Hollands and Barretts - i have 1 tea twice a week and this helps me stay regular especially if i have a couple of my trigger foods!

I had candida ... i am lucky in fact i have a nutritionalist as a friend and she helped me fight it without taking anything from a gp.

As antibiotics is what gave me it in first place and they wanted to give me more to kill it??? Plus a antifungal.

I was adamant that werent happening so my friend helped me. Within 6 weeks i was better!

Felt so much better after.

Candida feeds of sugar and bacteria so u have to starve it.

I literally lived on chicken and spinach and greens. Loadsa peppermint teas , ginger, oregano, garlic tablets. It hates all them.

No sugar no processed food no gluten AND NO YEAST! Ie bread. Within 2

Weeks i could tell difference

Also probiotics 3 times a day and digestive enzymes and holland and barratt do these tablets called DIDA.

Which have all the above herbs in one tablet that killed it

Thank you. This is something I can do. A food diary is a great idea and if I do go to see a GP it could help to identify what is causing the problem.

Hey

You sound exactly like i did about 18 months ago.

I literally lived on pepto bismol.

So i saw a alergist and a nutritionalist and decided to change my lifestyle as i was fed up of always having crippling stomach pains and indigestion.

So i cut out red meat! That was what i was told is the hardest thing for our body to digest. Then cows milk.

Just went to soya, soya butter, lactulose free cheese( only eat once a month never been cheese fan anyway).

The the biggest change was gluten. Totally cut out gluten and the difference was AMAZING!

I stopped Getting stomach pain, i stopped getting indigestion and looking pregnant. I always had bad skin and that cleared up Almost immediately.

I then cut out all processed food and sugars( as much as can, no sugar in tea and coffee, no fizzy drinks and no sweets and biscuits)

The change was unbelieveable.

I am now 18 months down line and never would go back to any of it.

I lost two stone.

My skin hair and nails look better then ever have.

It has made alot of difference to my health in general as i have other problems to and it just helped all round really.

Yeh i missed it all to start with but i dont miss the constant gut rot and poops then constipation.

I go every day now and it normal!!

I also take probiotics for a healthy gut flora and digestive enzymes to help me digest my foods.

I eat healthy and clean foods that i make myself never processed meal

Or takeaway aless it a gluten free chicken kebab without the bread.

I also learnt about what thing can do to ur body ie painkillers and antibiotics and i try to stay of any of them aless im in desperate need as they really mess with ur stomach lining , gut bacteria( candida/sibo) and liver and kidney toxins.

U just got to think about what u put in ur body....

Think “ is this really good for me” and u know what were not stupid we know! Sometimes we just choose to ignore

WOW that's sounds like my life now including sometimes looking pregnant and acne. Thank you this is just what I needed and its nice to know you can really do something to stop the cycle without drugs. I know for some this is unavoidable but I would like to try all avenues before using medication.

Any kind of fizzy drink (inc. beer or wine) will give you indigestion!
