Exertion

Does anyone find unusual exertion sometimes brings on a flare up? I'm wondering as it seems to have coincided twice now with flare ups that last for days. Just want to sleep all the time, feel so weak

Any exercise to our sensitive tums can get things moving. With me best do exercise on an empty stomach

Thank you. I do try not to eat for several hours before but maybe the exertion in the heat was the trigger.

Did you exercise in the heat ?? I just got very ill especially in the heat but I didn’t exercise during the heatwave . And you ? But at present it’s a bit better ... as it is not so hot .... thank god. That helps.

Just Tai Chi indoors (last lesson of course so felt had to go) but obviously that was enough!

The heat was hell. My husband can’t understand how the heat could have any influence .... but it certainly does and I was very bad on the hottest days ( and I live in the Southeast UK

Hope you're feeling better now it's cooled down a bit - for the time being. I live in South East UK too.

I think the heat knocked us all out!!

Yep, I do butt and leg exercises, and if I exert too much then my guts go all grumpy. It's pathetic, sometimes even doing the hoovering can set it off. I hate my guts for this and curse it everytime this happens. The heat can also trigger a session on the toilet as well. I still don't understand why and I've been suffering ibs for 16 years, it's ruined my life.

What I want to know is why the heck is there no cure for this, but there are cures for the most unusual problems/illnesses, yet something not rare doesn't have a cure.. unbelievable.

Hi Lisa,

There is a way to recover from IBS. I have done it. But most people want their doctor to prescribe something instead. You might find some inspiration on the SickofIBS.com blog:)

You can control your IBS- a good read "Take control of your IBS" by Professor Peter Whorwell, that suits me and if I have a bad attack and it pulls me down I refer to the book or chat to a fellow sufferer on this wonderful site and I feel better
