Have had stitch/pain that comes and goes frequently under left rib cage..can anyone relate? Tests show nothing.

Hi, for several months, have had what feel like knife like pain or a stitch feeling that comes and goes under my left rib cage. Does anyone get this? I thought it might be may be muscle strain from straining to have bowel movement (please don't tell me not too, as I have severe constipation, with that comes large internal hemmorrhoids, probably will have sugery, and "deep breathing and "squatty potty" doesn't help). I am trying to figure out what organs could be located there..enlarged spleen? Gallbladder? Pancreas? Or just a strained muscle? Have had CT scans, x-rays, Colonoscopy. Nothing. But I feel it. It is affecting my life as much as severe constipation. Does anyone have this? I guess my last resort is barium ultrasound. Ugh.

I have the same pain which comes and goes, but mine is related to nerve damage from shingles and chronically impacts my entire left side. Any changes this might apply to you?

I don't think so, don't have shingles. I have heard this is very painful. I did have chicken pox as a child, so I could get it, I sure hope not. I hope you feel better.

I don't have shingles now, I had them over 5 years ago. The nerve pain is residual and pretty well controlled, except those sudden sharp pains under my rib are still scary. I would go to your regular doctor who can refer you out to a specialist. Good luck.
