Do any of my fellow IBSD sufferers find that when they enter shops, stores etc it’s as if something in the air triggers their bowel and have to dash to the loo??? Only asking as I thought it was just me until someone told me hat they shared the same problem as me recently. It does seem very odd it always happens in TK Max but in other shops to. 🤨

Toilet dash
Absolutely! I think it’s an associated fear from the memory. I’m trying to overcome it but it’s very difficult and today I have exactly that issue with a shop I need to go to. I feel very nervous! I wonder if CBT would help.
Hi i had exactly the same problem with supermarkets years before I had full blown IBS. I don't know what it is, so cannot help you, but it's interesting. As you say perhaps "something in the air". All good wishes.
Perhaps it's something to do with anxiety.
I've had the same problem. I always feel bit better if I've worked out where the nearest loo is. x
My partner always seems to need to go when I take him shopping. It could be that there are no loos in a lot of the big stores so panic arises and that often sets off the need to go? It happens on tours and visits to big gardens, National Trust places etc. Never enough loos in these grounds and we always cut visit short and drive round in search of loos. It's stressful for me too, because now I'm waiting for it, and don't want to visit these places either. I feel his discomfort.
I have suffered with this as one aspect of my ins for thirty or more years..... it is bizarre and I thought it was me!! Obviously I’m not alone in this peculiar happening. I tend to take Imodium if I’m going on a shopping trip, as it makes life so much easier. It must be an anxiety thing, but I really don’t know why - I like a day out shopping. I don’t think I will ever understand my gut, but I am generally better at managing it now and never go out without my emergency supplies!!
Good luck !
