Continuing pain

So good to find this site. I am new and have had symptoms of IBS on and off for about 20 years, usually short lived. I started another bout in September with dreadful abdominal pain , sometimes down my left side, usually any where between my bikini line and tummy button.

I have recently seen a Gastroenterologist. Who could find nothing untoward feeling my tummy. I am now waiting fo a Colonoscopy at the end of January. Meanwhile the pain continues, sometimes I get a few “ good days” pain free. I feel quite low at the moment as pain persists, I don’t know what to eat, I cannot identify the culprit, so cut out most things containing g wheat , lactose etc.

Can anyone confirm these symptoms as typical ?.

It's very common in IBS and also a condition called diverticulitis to have pain down your left side. Perhaps in the meantime you could stick to foods that are easy to digest to help with your pain. Your colonoscopy will be vital and you'll have a much clearer idea of what's going on. Don't be discouraged if they tell you it looks perfectly healthy despite the fact that you feel unwell. It may be likely at that point that you have IBS, and you can come back here and ask for tips, you will absolutely find ways to control it, lots of things to try out :)
