Hi, I'm not sure where to turn, I actually feel totally lost.
So I've been taking peppermint oil tablets since Monday and I've noticed that when I go to the toilet not only does it smell like peppermint but my bum stings a little. Is this normal until your body gets used to it? Plus the cramps are awful, something I didn't have until I started the meds.

I went to docs as I was burping all the time. I was taking lansoprazole for gasitis which was discovered during an endoscopy. The doc said I have IBS even though I didn't have any bowel changed. Doc said the peppermint oil tablets will help.
Yes its normal, but I was the same I got cramps, are you on Apercap? They were a waste of time for me, For my IBSc my gp put me on Nortrytriptiline 30mg, Mebeverine & movicol, plus he put me on the fodmap diet, but when I get stressed nothing works! Hope things settle down for you!
All I've been given is the peppermint oil tablets. Doc just said it's IBS in what i'd class as a throw away comment. Like it's not life changing. I was given no advice not even a leaflet or signposted to where to get advice or support
I can only take Colpermin peppermint capsules as any other especially Apercap don’t work & cause burning in my throat.
