Hi, I'm suffering from severe IBS at the moment. Which means I have had to cut my hours at work from 36 to 330and I may have to cut it even more. Does anyone know if there is anyway I can qualify for some top up money, like working Tax Credits?
Thanks

I'm not sure if you qualify, there's a lot of factors - pay, savings, if you have a partner etc etc, but if you go to the governments Money Advice website there is a great questionaire thingy you can fill in and it will tell you. It also has who to contact. Do it now so that you can put your mind at rest. If you don't succeed here, there are other tips that can help you to cut back. You could talk to any creditors and reduce payments for awhile, most will if you explain early on. Good luck. I'm sure cutting down hours will help you get it under control, just make sure you relax and are not too stressed. Not easy with reduced pay on your mind, but let us know how you get on.
Phone working tax credits and ask them for a form. They are very helpful. If you're 60 or over, you only have e work 16 hours per week to qualify, dependent on earnings, but under 60 I think it's 28 hours, but they will clarify. Even if you're not sure, fill in the form and don't miss anything out, be honest, they do check. You might be surprised at what you are entitled to. It takes a little while to get an answer, but it's backdated to when you applied, so don't delay, good luck !!!
