Hey all. Currently travelling to Paris for a weekend break. On the train at the moment but feeling so nauseous. Travel always does this to me but there's nothing I can do to stop it or so it seems. Any advice for the next couple of hours travel?

Shame you didn't get yourself some Phenergan to try as recommended by Shon48, not only has it cleared away all IBS symptoms for both of us, but it's actually sold as an anti-travel sickness remedy! Only immediate advice I can offer is to sit as still as you can and sip water.

Thanks Rosie that's what I've been doing. I want to take phone than but am currently on amitriptyline and I don't think they mix well. I need to speak to my doctor about it as I'm fed up feeling this way every time I travel!

Hope you've arrived with no mishaps and are feeling better.

I don't think amitrip mixes well with anything, I was prescribed it a few years' ago for spinal nerve pain and not only did it not do the job, but gave me terrible nightmares to boot!

Have a great weekend and enjoy Paris.

Hi Rosie. I have seen you mention Phenergan before. What's the product called when getting it over the counter? Many thanks

Hi,

If you click on Shon48 in the members' list you'll see a lot of posts about Phenergan as she was the person who uncovered its unlisted benefits!

It's trade name is Phenergan (active ingredient promethazine hydrochloride) and is sold for allergy relief, travel sickness and mild sedation. Tell the pharmacy that you want it for travel sickness and that you've had it before, otherwise you'll spend ages answering all sorts of questions. If you have a problem sourcing it, you can easily buy it online from reputable pharmacies including Boots - costs about £7 for 56 tabs, although my GP has now put it on prescription for me and is very keen to know whether it continues to work long-term.

Take one at night and see whether it helps, at the very least you should get a good nights' sleep with it!

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Rosie. Thank you, that's great. I will do that. Anything to help a gluten free veggie has got to be worth it :-) 😮 Hope you are having a good day. X

Thanks cricket. I'll give that a try. Yes it is much worse when travelling. I'm at my destination now but still feeling really sick. Trying to eat some breakfast but finding it tough. Lol life shouldn't be this hard should it!

I always lay down when I feel sick so that I am horizontal.

It's the flashing by that your eye cant process to your brain , hence everything flying by makes you feel sick. If not possible to lay down, then head in lap can help.

Just don't look out of window at scenery !!

Might be helpful for future journeys.

Hello,

I just read this now, but thought would reply.

I get travel nausea too. I find sitting in the direction of travel whenever possible is better, trying not to read or looking out of the window at moving objects too often- closing your eyes to rest can help.

Maybe listen to music or a guided calming meditation?

I find peppermint capsules and Gin Gins ginger sweets help.

I also tried travel sickness wrist bands for the first time for a flight recently and they seemed to work quite well, worth a try.

Thanks shine. I too use travel bands and find that they help but not all the time. I also try sit in the direction travelled. I'll Give the peppermint capsules a try though. Thanks for your advice.
