I'd been prescribed meveberine by my doctor and it worked for about 2 weeks then went back to being as bad as it used to be. I'm now waiting on blood tests and waiting to be prescribed something new by my doctor.

Hi, Two years ago I was put on mebeverine it did not help with my IBS, I lost half a stone in 2 weeks holiday abroad, then I started getting acid coming up in my throat. I went and saw a different Dr who said it was the mebeverine, I now take Buscopan for the pain. But my IBS is caused by Fructose and Lactose so I have to watch every thing I eat and Buscopan has Sucrose in it ,so I only have them when I am in pain. People who do not have IBS have no idea what it's like to live with it . Hope this helps

hi

I'v been taking Mebeverine for years. it helps but i sometimes top up after 2 hours with Mybentol. same medicine but lower dosage. i take mebeverine 20 mins before meals.

Iv gone on to Amytripline low dosage to help as well as culturelle probiotics. they are expensive but much more effective than supermarkets types as they get destroyed in stomach before they reach the gut. I hope this helps. iv had 2 weeks all clear and

2 ibs days in last 18 days much better than usual.

Just been to my GP this morning as having awful relapse. Going back on the Mebeverine as it does work for me....along with Ranitidine at night to stop the acid.

I am on Mebeverine time release and my brain tells me it works but I only take it when I really need it as I do not want my body to get used to it. I always take a pro-biotic daily and try to exercise to relief the painful wind

Hi. I'm on lansoprozol for Barrets eosophagus and have been for 11 years. Have been in so much pain for the last few weeks I had to see the doctor yesterday. She put me on Colofac and Mebeverine. I got 2 of each in my system yesterday and have a lot of relief today. I think after reading these posts, I'm only going to take these when absolutely necessary as I don't want my body getting used to them then find they don't work. I'm off to Rhodes next weekend for 2 weeks and quite frankly I've been dreading it, it's bad enough having this in my own home let alone abroad. I'm also very allergic to mosquitoes ...... Joy !!!!

Hope this helps a little johnybob. Best wishes.

Mebeverine hydrochloride worked for just short of 2 years for me and just suddenly stopped, since I have been balancing between colofac which is also mebeverine but it's different and I also take the fibogel drink. I still have my old medication but depending on the severity of my pain, colofac works best when my pain is worse and has a long lasting relief for me.
