Hi. Has anyone had severe discomfort and pain under the bottom of the left rib cage. Is it a symptom if IBS?

I experience pain in that area on daily basis...the intensity varies. Currently on Low Fodmaps diet under supervision of a NHS dietitian. I bought a TENS last week and does help with the pain. Have you been diagnosed with IBS?

My pain is left side but lower, but the comments about the FODMAPS diet and the TENS are interesting. I know what NOT to eat but not what to eat and WHEN. Does your dietitian give you a menu or food schedule? Also i have a small massager

Mini Massager

HoMedics PM-50

that is very helpful. I have IBS-C so helps break up tension and eventually have a painfree (knock wood!) bm

In this area, there is a 'bend' in the bowel and it is called the splenic flexure (as it is located near the spleen). Sometimes the bowel in this area can narrow due to spasm, and because it's already bent, gas and stool can sometimes find it difficult to move along, so it gets stuck, causing further spasm, pain, anxiety and discomfort.

I get this occasionally. Especially after food with some spice! I find that drinking herbal teas like peppermint help or lemon and ginger really helps things move around.
