Anxiety help

I’ve recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour and will be having it removed in about 6 weeks time. I do not know what type of tumour it is yet until it is removed.

I am looking for help to manage my anxiety- it’s on my mind 24/7 and I need to find a way to help manage this and to be more calm before surgery.

Any advice would be much appreciated right now as my anxiety is through the roof!

I am so sorry to hear this. I do not have much by way of help to suggest to be honest, You are natuarlly thinking about it totally all the time. I had mine for 8 years before it was removed, the 'watch and wait' situation and before every scan I was obsessed by what the outcome would be. In the end I was told it had to be removed and waited 12 weeks for this. It seemed endless. I kept busy and tried to be cheerful but all the time I was falling aparet inside. The only help I had was from my husband's love and the Breathworks website with relaxation sessions that they give freely. It helped just a little to turn down the volume. In the end I had to be pragmatic and decide to trust that the surgeon would do a good job and help me live longer. He did. It took him 12 hours and I am good, no real bad side effects and I am very grateful. I wish you well and will think about you. Try to take each day at a time and find something good in each day, the time will pass and then be over. That sounds glib but you know that I mean well and understand. Lots of love x

I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to reply.

I appreciate your lovely message very much. I feel so much more relaxed knowing I’m not on my own and that other people are going through similar situations. I have started listening to some mindfulness story’s and deep breathing exercises at bed time so I’ve been managing to get some sleep. I feel in a different place mentally and emotionally since I wrote my original message.

Thank you so much again for your love and support. 🩷

I know the feeling it’s very hard to try and to shut your thoughts off which ups the anxiety try finding something to focus on mine was music extreme metal and a punch bag done the job and a good book at night with some more calming music 6 weeks is a long time just try and block it out. But try not to let it control your life

I’m so glad that you found your own way to help yourself . I think it’s just finding that sweet spot that you know can help and can always go back to when emotions start to flare up that’s the main thing every body finds there own little ways
