Minimal PTB

It was way back around 2018, I was diagnosed with TB. For some reason I believe I finished taking medication for 5 months more less ( I don't really remember, I was young then) I feel better- no cough, fever, cold sweats, etc. As far as I remember didn't come back to my doctor. Another doctor I checked up one time with told me I just had scarring in my lungs. Fast forward, I was getting my health card - there was a finding on my x-ray I had minimal ptb, right. (Cicatricial atelectasis, right upper lung). My sputum results came out negative. I feel fine. Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe have a Lantent TB? and should I repeat the medication, taking anti-tubercolosis again for 6 months even though I believe it's just a scarring in my lungs? Because the people from Health told me to take meds to have a certificate of treatment completion.

Please let me know what your insights on this.

Thank you.

Hi pemdesarapin,

I'm afraid that this site does is not managed by qualified medical professionals so we are unable to answer specific medical questions, only give general information and support.

From the description that you have given, it sounds very likely that you were originally treated for active TB. This can leave you with scarring in your lungs that does not heal.

I cannot explain what the minimal PTB diagnosis would mean, but I do not think it is connected to latent TB which is the inactive (or sleeping) form of the illness which does not cause symptoms.

You do need to speak to a medical professional to get these questions answered - please do so as soon as possible if you are or begin to feel ill with any symptoms that could be TB.

With best wishes,

Helen
