Hi All,

My wife had severe cough and docters said it was Pnemonia but even after taking medicines for a month she wasnt ok.

Thereafter a second scan and biopsy too was done of which the results were T.B (Mycobacterium Tuberculi) but then the Dr.Sugested for a Pet Scan and here its a stage where im panicked and writing this post.

Can there be TB in other parts of the body as well ?

Your help will be a blessings down from Almighty.

Thanks

Yes TB can be in many parts of the body. I did not have it in the lung at any stage - I had Ileo-Caecal TB - in the gut :-) That was some 44 years ago !

Hi Ravi,

I'm sorry to hear that your wife is ill, though it is good that she is being tested for TB. Early diagnosis and treatment limits the harm TB can do.

TB most commonly affects the lungs, but it can travel to any part of the body. Wherever TB is in the body, it is still curable with the same antibiotics.

I hope everything goes well for you and your wife gets the diagnosis and treatment she needs. Your support will continue to be invaluable.

Best wishes,

Helen

Hi lavi I can understand your concerns, it can be very scary, but the good thing now is that it has been found so your wife can be treated. The sooner she gets all these important tests done then they will know more to make a more structured plan. The longer it's left the more risk there is, but please stay positive and report anything to the doctor if your not happy with your wife's progress. Hope everything goes well for you both x

Hi meenaravi, yes TB can be in other parts of the body as well. Just like in my condition, it started in the right side just above my stomach and my surgeon said it was scrofuloderma that lead me to contract TB. It would be better if you and your wife consult a pulmonologist just in case she needs to start her medications which can last atleast 6mos. Just trust the procedure and I am sure that your wife will be cured.

God bless and be positive :)
