New peak flow meter
Hello all, I hope you're all in good health. Recently my peak flow meter completely stopped working - not at the best time either - and since I received my new one ( yay for amazon!! ) the readings have been at least 100 below what it usually is. I've toyed with the notion that it was broken for

Ventolin and Mind Games
I'll start by saying I don't like using my reliever. Not that it causes side effects. Just because I'm not a fan of taking medicine in general. I'm the sort of person who prefers to wait out a headache rather than take aspirin. About two three weeks ago, my doctor gave me a “lecture” on why I should

Hi, I'm new and worried.
Hi everyone, I have had asthma since childhood and, it seems, now have COPD. I am using inhalers which are helpful. I did smoke but gave up a very small habit 11 years ago. I lived in a home surrounded by smoke as a child and lived in a house with a smokeless fuel fire, which made me much worse, for

Not impressed with GP...
So, I managed to get myself a GP appointment for 10 past 10, with the GP at our practice who's supposed to be the asthma expert. Firstly, I was unimpressed because he was running 45 minutes late. I know these things happen at the doctors and are sometimes unavoidable, but an apology is always nice

Hi I'm really glad I've found this forum. My little boy will be 5 at the beginning of February and suffers with asthma, He was first diagnosed at age 2 following what we now believe was an asthma attack. He was a wheezy baby and suffered from around 7 mths old and in particular with the night time

Newly Diagnosed - advice please
Can you give me some advice please.....? I'm 36 and have always struggled with sprays/strong odours. I can't use perfume or spray deoderant, insect repellents etc - they have always made me cough. History: I have recently been diagnosed with asthma after having a persistent cough for several months

Hi everyone, I've had asthma since I was 7 and over the last 10 months this has been quite problematic, my GP and asthma nurse are fantastic, I must state that my sats are always good, throughout, my asthma has been unresponsive to treatment but have changed to symbicort 200, plus taking usual triple

Peak flow and technique in children
Just wondering for those with older children at what rough age your child was able to get an accurate recording of their peak flow? My eldest asthmatic has his asthma review in the new year and at last years attempt he just couldn't get it. He is now 5, almost 6.

Very confused...
Hi :) So I have had asthma problems for about a month now - wheezing, coughing, breathless etc. I have had to call an ambulance 4 times this month, three of those have been this week, and I swear they're getting fed up of me in A&E! The first two times the ambulance came I was told my chest was wheezy

Symbicort 200/6 SMART therapy
Hi, have met brilliant respiratory specialist nurse today, and she mentioned that she loves this medication, and it might work well for me. I am to continue for now with seretide 250 and singulair, but I was wondering who has had experience of this therapy - I must admit it sounds good, I'm the sort
