Returning to Exercise.. tips?!
Hi Bit of background: I was diagnosed with asthma in November as I started having issues with exercise from late August / September onwards. I stopped my classes and eventually cancelled gym membership whilst in the process of being diagnosed. The last time I exercised I went for a light 20 minute run

Several attacks..
I don’t understand why I keep having attacks, I’ve had 5 in the last three months, been upped on beclometasone then upped again to Fostair 100/6 to see how I am on that for now , testing antihistamines to see if dust mites are triggering it yet my peak flow is 350 or below most days which is my red zone

Flying
I have been on antibiotics and steriods for 8 days, 4 more days to go. Coughing up plenty of gunk, very sore abs due to coughing so much. On a brighter note my peak flow is better and waiting for results of a chest xray. Have bought a portable nebulizer online as recommended by my GP and he will prescribe

colds and asthma
Having manage to avoid a cold all winter I now have one which started yesterday. Lots of catarrh and a chesty cough. I did take regular Ventolin yesterday 4 puffs every 4 hours and now started doing it today since lunchtime. I spoke to asthma UK nurses for advice and they said check my peak flow to

Doctors are testing me for asthma, so many questions!
Hello everyone, apologies if this is a little long winded but I've not been able to get this out of my mind all week. I have previously been treated for GERD. I was given a tablet which took away all the symptoms. Around the end of summer I noticed some of the symptoms started to pop back, mainly -

Newly diagnosed and anxious
I’m newly diagnosed with (mild?) asthma and I’ve become so anxious. I wasn’t really given much information on it so I started googling it and have become so overwhelmed with triggers, fatal attacks, statistics etc that I just spend my life going to work and going home. Out of this comfort zone I’m in

Wheezing
Should I be worried. My peak flow is good just now, but I am still getting a loud wheeze, is this normal.

xolair
I have just completed four months worth of xolair (two injections per month) and have a consultation next week. Other only needing one "dose" of prednisolones over a five month period, (this is an improvement) there has been no real improvement in my overall breathing pattern, (morning peak flow 170

Spirometry Test Explanation?
Hi All, I had a basic spirometry test at the hospital a few days ago and have just received a letter through the post with the results. It says I have FEV1 of 2.4 and a FVC of 2.35. I also blow 500 on the peak flow meter too with a personal device I have at home. Can someone please explain what this

Asthma/infection?
I’m on day 6 of steroids, peak flow is now 300. Sats good, no temp. Started antibiotics yesterday as white/yellow sputum. Not much. Since yesterday the pain in my lungs has increased, they feel like two bricks. Tight band by ribs, but pain all over lungs. I’ve also had dizziness, yesterday was whenever

Do I need to see doc more urgently?
Hi there, new poster here! Have had mild asthma since 2014 w/ salbutamol only, then Clenil on and off since summer 2016 after a bout of viral pneumonia, had a course of prednisolone then. I had a viral URTI in September 17 with a lingering cough which triggered my first proper asthma attack at the end

Concerned
Had an attack on New Year’s Day, first one in 20 years. Was admitted and given nebs, steroids and antibiotics, discharged home later that evening. Chest X-ray clear. Here I am a week later with no real progress. Seen go who prescribed me further steroids. Feeling totally wiped out. My peak flow was 350

Fostair versus Seretide?
I have, over the last 8 weeks, been struggling, like so many on here with a major exacerbation. The GP's have been valliant in their attempts to control it 2 changes of inhalers(to flutiform and symbicort) neither of which worked 2 courses of steriods one I am just tapering (down to 1mg) from now. Added

Ventolin didn't seem to work
In the early hours of the 27th December I had a severe asthma attack that put me in hospital. My peak flow reading was less than 120 even though I'd taken Ventolin through my spacer and the paramedics put me on the nebuliser. The reading hadn't gone up by the time I got to hospital. My usual peak flow

Doxycycline Antibiotic
Hi there Had flu/chesty cough which led to a chest infection for the Christmas holidays. Put on the good old amoxicillin antibiotic, which didn't really kick-in until the last day. Thought I was getting back to normal, although my sinuses were also playing up but this is not unusual for me. However

Feeling quite poorly all the time, is normal in winter for asthma?
Hi Everybody, wishing you all the best for 2018. I posted a couple of months ago about how my (late onset) asthma suddenly went out of control this autumn and started reacting all over the place to anything and everything. It seems to have calmed down a little, that is, it's not so volatile, but has
