What Is The Truth...Is mCRPCa a Death Sentence or a Manageable Disease
I was just reading an article, that with the new drugs like Apalutamide - Darolutamide -
Xtandi
- Zytiga - Chemo mCRPCa could be managed...this article implies only an additional median 1 year survival rate...so you have to take the drugs before metastasis.

Xtandi vs generic. Humana advised upon first prescription for Xtandi that the generic drug Flutamide is a substitute. Anyone using a generic
My insurer Humana advised on 2/23/18 that Flutamide is an “approved” generic for
Xtandi
. This was news to me & while I’m checking with oncologist I wanted to seek input from real world users. This generic is substantially less than
Xtandi
in price but more important to me is it’s effectiveness.

We cannot afford the high cost of

PSA down after 3 weeks of Xtandi
Husband’s PSA down from 14.6 on 1/4/18 to 11.82 2/26/18. I counted over the past 17 years we have celebrated downward direction changes 7 times and I have recorded 56 PSA readings. He also received a 30 day Lupron to cover him until orchiectomy on 3/22. Remarkably he has no side effects except hot

Rat bastard cancer isn't responding to treatments
I have already completed zytiga,
xtandi
, & 6 rounds of taxetere. Pretty bummed at this point. Thought I'd get a longer run on chemo. I have bone mets mostly in pelvic area and couple on spine. Currently take hydrocodone to mask pain at night to sleep.

Well, may be done with Chemo after 9 sessions.
Will continue Lupron and
Xtandi
for now. Then Bilateral Orchiectomy in a month or so. Then no more Lupron for life. If no more Chemo. monitor PSA for next 3 mo. and see what PSA is doing. Then whole new set of decisions to make for further treatment.

Passed on.
Diagnosed in 2011, tried all standard medication( Zytega,
xtandi
, etc) Radium 223. 2016 metastasized: PSA was anywhere from 700 to lowest of 200. Tried Taxotere, then Jevtana, and was on carbo/Jevtana till he passed. We went to Sloan Kettering, Dana Farber, and Mass General. I had him all over!

Anybody found anything that counter fatigue due to cancer meds?
And take 2
Xtandi
pills every day. Have kept active, tho at times the fatigue is almost debilitating. Weight is fine and there has been no pain. Has anybody found anything to counter fatigue. I have heard of bee pollen but have not purchased any yet. I take raw honey daily--it maybe helps.

Any ideas on how to find local oncologist to implement Dr Scholz' treatment plan?
I like Dr Scholz a lot and he has ordered a pretty aggressive regimen of
Xtandi
, Lupron, Taxotere and later radiation. This is based upon the results of a C11 Acetate scan which he ordered at Phoenix Molecular Imaging (Dr Fabio Almeida). That scan located 3 cancerous abdominal lymph nodes.

VA - Xtandi Follow-up
I’m working on that now, to include my
Xtandi
. It’s still in process and I’m having to jump through hoops, but I have hope it’ll all work out. I’m a Cold War Vet (76-79) and never thought I’d be eligible. However, Vet friends of mine encouraged me to apply.

Castration resistant prostate cancer - Starting Jevtana with Prednisone in a few days
He was placed on
Xtandi
which put his body through hell. His doctor had to stop the medication and gave my Dad a few months to recover. He was then placed on ketoconazole and prednisone. But he reacted badly to it after a few months. He had electrolyte imbalance, seizures, etc.

Is AR-V7 Testing Pointless?
Interest in AR-V7 was aroused in 2014 when it was reported that AR-V7 was often associated with Abiraterone (Zytiga) & Enzalutamide (
Xtandi
) resistance, & that used in either sequence, the second drug might fail quickly if AR-V7 was present.
