A Bad Day :(
So yesterday was a really bad day. I spent most of it crying. Dad snapped at me and told me to shut up and said I interfere and talk to the doctors too much. I know its usual for patients to be snappy and moody but it was just the final straw for me. After worrying and putting my life on hold for

Hi! My dad was hospitalized with pneumonia two weeks ago. He was intubated but now is breathing on his own. He's getting healthier. He's still sedated but they bring him out once a day to see my mom and sister. He's unable to follow commands, squeeze my hand etc. but he's also incredibly hard of hearing

ASPIRATION PNEUMONIA
The doctor gave her cefixime and advised us that she should get
tracheostomy
to remove the phlegm in her lungs. My family and I, including my mom, don't wanna get the surgery since once her trachea is open we have a feeling that it might worsen her condition.

I'm new here and my grandmother is in CSICU.
She still had a breathing tube in and they decided to switch from the endotracheal tube to a
tracheostomy
tube. She had the trache tube in for about 2 days before they had to perform emergency CPR/compressions because there was a blockage.

Waking from medical coma...
She had a
tracheostomy
on Tuesday and they stopped the sedation to bring her out of the medical coma she had been in for 4 days. The cardiologist came and said there was only minimal fluid around the heart now and the renal specialist also stopped the kidney machine to see what her kidneys did.

Trache no Trache
I don't know if it will come up but I'm dreading having to deal with it. It was suggested as my husbands lungs heal opting for a tracheotomy instead of a vent tube. I'm against it the family are for it. I don't want any excess procedures and I've witnessed the risk of a Trache tube. Don't know what

Worried and confused
My husband went to the hospital sick and was diagnosed with pneumonia and sepsis. The sepsis seems to be gone but his lungs are damaged leaking air possibly from a chest tube or the vent or the pneumonia. Just when I thought he was getting stable he always seem to move into the critical stage. The

Dealing with waking up from an induced coma
He cannot speak due to
tracheostomy
nor can he move. I feel very upset seeing his hartrate and bloodpressure rise lang times. It's a difficult balance for his doctors and nurses to try and stop sedation completely. Can anyone relate? And what can I do to help him?

Quick run down of how he was : right sided weakness (virtually no movement), left eye closed, just started appearing to recognise us around 3 weeks, has a
tracheostomy
although only on minimal humidified oxygen to help with secretions.

Post Sepsis Syndrome
Hi I am Phil and in January 2015 I was struck down with Pneumonia and was in hospital for nine days. My longer stay was thankfully down to a Dr who was not happy with my blood tests and therefore kept me in until they improved. About a month later and without any warning I was fortunately found by my

Does it get easier?
I was in ICU for 3 weeks and had some horrendous hallucinations when I was coming off the sedatives and had a
tracheostomy
. I just wanted to ask other people, do you think it ever gets easier to think about? Will there be a time when it doesn't feel like such a huge part of my life?
