Serotonin Makes Tumors Happy Too
: it has been well-known that
sorafenib
produces anticancer effects through targeting multiple kinases, but it was shown recently that it has “off-target” 5-HTR binding activity.

Experience with Yervoy/Opdivo for HCC? MD's watching scans when new area appears rather than changing treatment? MD's using a prior med?
AFP started increasing with no correlation on scans, added
Sorafenib
to Opdivo at half dose as couldn't tolerate full and AFP kept increasing to over 600 though minimal change in scans.

HCC (hepato cellular carcinoma ) patient survey
Have you been diagnosed with HCC and are currently on oral systemic therapy drug treatment for liver cancer (for example,
sorafenib
, regorafenib, nivolumab, lenvatinib, pembrolizumab, or cabozantinib)? If so, we’d like to ask for your help.

experience with seeking insurance approval for more than one first level treatment---recent denial of a new treatment
Approved
Sorafenib
(also first level treatment?) which MD is combining with continued Opdivo. Question re first level treatment and insurance companies as this is a new treatment that wasn't available before. Has anyone else run into insurance denials?

HBV, HCC (18 months), Sorafenib, now Lung Nodules
My father, 64 years old, diagnosed with HCC 18 months ago and underwent TACE 3 times. HCC was stable and he was doing fine. Since a month, he started coughing regularly and the plain CT yesterday showed multiple nodules in the lungs. But he doesn't have any pain in the chest region. Although plain CT

Worried
So
Sorafenib
is the recommended treatment now. For some unknown reason the biopsy was delayed until end of October but unti that was done he could start treatment. We went to Kings on Monday to see the consultant, discuss the biopsy results and agree treatment plan.

Sorafenib reactions
My brother has been taking
Sorafenib
chemo tablet for 2 weeks now but has had to stop because it's made him lose a considerable amount of weight, has become dehydrated and also has incontinence. He says he has lost the ability to walk which really worries me.

hcc and chemotherapy
I went to see the oncologist yday and he said the only treatment is
sorafenib
. Nothing else they could offer or do(including trails). I am devastated as i have gone from a cure to basically a terminal diagnosis in the space of a few months. Is sorafanib any good??

HCC PATIENT LOOKING FOR NEXT STEP
I was started on
Sorafenib
and took for 1 month which made me very sick. Started Nivolumab Nov. 8. After 8 Nivolumab 240mg treatments, CT was done on Feb. 27, 2018. CT showed shrinkage of the tumor to 4.8cm x 6.0cm. My AFP was 3.2. A month later the AFP is 2.1.

AFP and Liver Cancer.
My AFP increases when I reduce the dose of
sorafenib
because of side effects e.g. skin blisters, painful round swelling of palm and sole, sore tongue, mouth etc.But some times after healing of skin and other problems I start start full dose then again side effects reappears and AFP comes down.

CheckMate 040: Opdivo safe, effective in advanced HCC
The only known therapy for patients with advanced HCC was
sorafenib
, but there's a new treatment named Opdivo. Its effectiveness was proven when a study showed major disease stability in multiple testing areas. Learn more here: http://bit.ly/2frP0um
