Hello from a new boy
Hello Everyone - I have been diagnosed for 9 years and am better now than i was 4 years ago. I put that down to seeing a marvellous Neuorlogist in Cambridge (not my home town) who recommended Azilect as an adddition to my Sinemet Plus and Amantadine and to change my Ropinirole to Requip XL. This change

Does anyone know of a safe cleanse routine for PD patients?
I have visceral off meaning I'm becoming more and more dependent on laxatives, etc. Last week when I had a big schedule I seriously felt like I was dying. I can't fast because I have to take meds with a snack. I'm up to 100/25 sinimet every 3 hours. That's a lot of snacking. Maybe I'm to the point

Husband saw new Movement Disorder Specialist who increased his Sinemet which has helped his walking.
Only problem is from time he goes to bed and gets up in the morning he has had no meds and then can't walk again until he takes his morning meds. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Hate waking him up in the middle of the night to take the medicine. It takes almost an hour for the Sinemet to kick

My question is below.
I've had PD for about 14 years. I've been thinking about starting Sinemet, but I'm really weary about the side effects. I know there is a possibility of dyskinesia, but what other side effects are there? How long before you start having side effects. I know we all respond differently, but I would

Have you developed dyskenesia and, if so, how troublesome and/or noticeable is it?
Have any of you been on sinemet for many years without developing dyskenesia? Those of you that have it, is it periodic depending on your meds, or is it continual? Does it inhibit you socially and how do you deal with it?

Has anyone experienced changes io their body odour?
I have never had a strong natural scent (honestly!). However, even with a much reduced sense of smell, I noticed a change to my body odour in the year or so post diagnosis. Then, when I started sinemet, my body odour returned to normal! One of the more trivial changes with PD, but i should be interested

My husband and RLS - I just wanted to share
Firstly I am new and Hi to all. Just wanted to share stuff. My husband I have known for 4 years and now married this month for 2 years has, since I have known him, always had RLS and will continue to do so I guess. He was diagnosed a long while before I met him. He had undergone a lot of tests with

I don't have a tremor. My symptoms are all movement related and I have
problems with fine motor movements in my hands. I was on Sinemet 25/100 (1 1/2 tabs 4 x day). At my last visit I told my specialist that I didn't think the meds worked as I never have on/off times. I saw my specialist on Tuesday after being off my meds for 48 hrs. He is now not sure if I have Parkinsons

Sinemet best practice - take a tablet when you feel you need it or stick to 3 times a day and be uncomfortable.
I have started taking 5 a day and then add in
Sinemet
CR
25mg Levodopa at night to try and get some sleep. If RLS kicks in it can take up to 2 hours + to get back on track! Am I heading for problems in the future by doing this? I can't stick the discomfort it gets me down.

What is the maximum amount of sinemet daily?
It seems that Sinemet is not working. I get about 3 hrs on and the rest of the day off. I take a 50/200 @ bed and one during the nite. 2ea 25/100 when I get up and every 2 to 3 hrs during the day. What can I take to help extend on time.

Self managing PD - Are we serious or not?
I’m back. With good reason though, inspired by a message I received, I decided to post. The following issues, in my opinion, are not being addressed properly within the whole pd community. (I am in the UK but this could equally apply anywhere). Ok here we go. (Another lengthy one) The drugs

I'm on Sinemet 25/100 (1 1/2 tablet) 4 times a day. I can honestly say it doesn't seem like my symptoms ever change, I don't feel like I
have on/off periods. My Neuro is going to have me go off my meds for 48 hours then have me come into the office and run me through the usual tests. Then he is going to medicate me and then check me again to see what changes, if anything. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in July 2010 and initially

diet while taking sinemet
Hello friends: I'm looking for information on diet while taking sinemet. Is anyone aware of books with solid advice on what and when to eat while taking sinemet 4 times per day. Any advice on foods to avoid? Thanks

Does anyone know how my mum can stabilise after going into freefall?
My mum started taking madopar to boost her rasagiline but this has coincided with her having diarrohea. She was switched to Sinemet but the diarrohea has persisted so she's now off that too and on rasagiline only. A stool sample and bowel cancer test have come back as normal so I think maybe levodopar

Boost Sinemet with Madopar Dispersible YES OR NO?
"if you need to take an extra sinemet thats ok, it may differ from day to day. Use the dispersible as required, just keep to a minimum, but if you need them, you need to take them". What does my PD Nurse mean by the above in quotations? not to boost the Sinement with Madopar Dispersible? does she

Comments on Madopar and Requip XL
Currently taking 22mg Requip XL once a day at 7:30am .I've already tried Sinemet but they made me feel worse.PD nurse suggested Madopar dissolvable , 1x 62.5mg a day before i get up as i have mobility problems first thing in the morning. Does anyone out there have any experience of this combination?
