Pleural rub
Hi. Has anyone got any advice as too how to cope with a really painful pleural rub?. I've got a chest infection, and am on 2 sorts of high dose anti-biotics, 25mg Pred, salbutamol nebs and have been give co-codamol to take. If I take 1 painkiller, it doesn't work, but 2 make me feel sick and spaced out

peakflow improved since having steroid nasal spray
Does anyone share my experience? I was using salbutamol a lot and GP was not sure why. Anyway, he changed my nasal spray and eye drops to steroid rather than antihistamine ones, and I have used the salb. far less and my peak flow has improved. I also take loratadine every day. Maybe it is coincidence

Review on Monday
Wonder if anyone can help me. Had a bad attack 2 weeks ago and am having a review next week to see how things are going. Still don't feel back to normal can't do everything I was doing before, taking more salbutamol and not working so long and maybe the worst of it being woken at night with atypical

Space age spacers
I have seen a big advert in the AsthmaUK magazine for a shiny metallic spacer called a Vortex. I want to make sure my child gets his proper dose of salbutamol and will travel to the furthest reaches of the universe to ensure he does. So I had a look on eBay to see if anyone was selling one these devices

Moving goalposts
I know the topic of nebulisers and protocols have appeared on here often but i wondered if i could share my difficulties at the moment:) I was prescripted PRN salbutamol nebs about a year ago from the GP, the consultant and respiratory nurse were ok but were very keen for me to limit the use and not

Hello, I did an 11 mile charity walk yesterday for some hospices and while going uphill (most ofthe time, I could not catch my breath, and was really really struggling all the time going uphill, even though i was using my blue salbutamol? inhaler quite a lot of the time. Normally this works, but

New to asthma and full of questions
Hi On my 47th birthday i developed a cough! Within a week i had bronchitus and a really bad reaction to the antibiotics and now i have asthma (which the doctor thinks I've had a while). I have a brown inhaler of beclometasone and a blue inhaler of salbutamol. I'm still a bit shocked that I've got asthma

Tight Chest and Painful upper arms
I have been very tight chested as late and having to take a lot more of my blue inhaler I not sure but I think it may be the weather. I have also had some noisey whistlely breathing these last few nights. I am going to see the doctor tomorrow afternoon to ask him if I can have some nebules for my nebulizer

Respiratory arrest
Hi I am a newbie. I was just wondering if anybody could explain what a respiratory arrest is? I had an asthma attack and the ambulance staff thought I had stopped breathing, even though I was on 6L of oxygen, and they said I went unconscious and rushed me to hospital, but I came around and my oxygen

Cold + too much salbutamol
So I'm a hypochondriac anyway so this may just be me being paranoid but I have a cold right now that's decided to settled on my chest. I've had to take my salbutamol twice in 3 hours and after this second time it's already wearing off. I read the patient leaflet and it says if you take too much and experience

Cough Variant or Vocal Chord Dysfunction?
I know both these subjects have been discussed at length in the past, but I'd like to hear from people who have either of these as I'm trying to self-diagnose! Sometimes I seem to wheeze when breathing in, and it feels like my chest is clear, but my throat is narrow - so this doesn't seem like asthma

Leg cramps
Can anyone tell me if its normal to have cramp in your calves when you are coming down off pred?. Been on a higher dose than usual and have gradually been reducing by 5mgs every 3 days until I got down to 10mgs. Was ok until then and now the only thing which has changed was salbutamol nebs increased

Asthma but no wheeze
Hi I had a bit of a scary experience yesteday with my asthma (I'm alright now) and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. I had an attack in chemistry at school which ended up with the ambulance being called and me ending up in A&E. I wasn't given salbutamol nebs as I'd already had well over 10

types of inhalors/use of spacers
I was wondering what people thought of the different inhalors that are available? i'm often asked if i want a dried powder, an acuhalor, a turbohalor, an easie-breathe and it can get quite confusing. Currently y Symbicort is a turbo-halor, then i have a salamol easi-breath and salbutamol MDI with spacer
