Low SATS, what would you do?
Hello, It's been a while since I last posted but Leo (5 yr old son) has had a turbulent few months, with his last admission being in November. He saw his resp. Consultant again on 2nd Jan and we were given salbutamol nebules for a home nebuliser at last. I know this is a controversial move as it can

What do you do when you start getting a cold?
Just wondering what everyone else does when they start getting sick. I've woken up with sore throat, blocked nose, earache, temp and can definitely already feel my asthma starting to be affected. The thing is, there's nothing on my asthma plan to prevent things happening at this stage, it's all about

Hi, Maddie is now 5. She is brittle and on a concoction of meds. I guess she is now beginning to recognise symptoms and verbalise these to us which is great and reduces the need for us to be constantly watching for signs. However, we are surprised as to how often she says something is wrong with her

Shallow breathing
Hi :) Another question from me- I seem to have lots at the moment! I've noticed that for the past few weeks my breathing has been quite shallow at times. I've not experienced this before and I'm not sure if it's asthma related. Has anyone else ad a similar thing? I thought I'd been lucky so far this

Has anybody else been given Vertine instead of Serevent?
Some time ago, my pharmacy replaced Salamol with a cheap substitute "Salbutamol" by Sandoz which was utterly and totally useless. When I phoned the surgery they said 'Oh yes - we've had a lot of patients tell us about this' and I got my old inhaler back. I'm just hoping this isn't another cost cutting

exercise and asthma- having a few difficulties!
Hi all, hope everyone's well I just have a few questions about exercise and asthma. First of all, I think I may have asked this before, but how long before exercising should salbutamol be used? I've been using it about 10-15 minutes before I head to tge gym but it doesn't seem to make any difference

One thing after another - feeling seriously overwhelmed!
Hi guys, hope everyone is getting through the winter ok and that you are all well!! OK ... here goes. Looking back, my asthma has been getting progressively worse for the last 4 winters. I didn't go to see my GP because if it though, because I wasn't the typical ""noisy lungs"" asthmatic, so just got

Ongoing asthma
Hi, I wondered if other people live with daily asthma symptoms? I've had continuing asthma symptoms for about six months now and the doctors just seem to have no answer and that I get on with it. I'm so tired of going to the doctors and think what is the point now of going back. I'm on seretide 250

That'll Teach Me! First Attack
Sorry to keep popping up, but it's such a relief to have somewhere to go to offload about all this. I say this is my first attack, but I suspect I've had attacks in the past and just not realised it was asthma. In all honesty I would probably have said I was coming down with a chest infection and just

Asthma's my latest diagnosis!
Hi all I've had all sorts of things since October 2012, including the flu (or something like it: all this is post-viral), post-viral hyper-reactivity, asthma (first diagnosis at GP), pneumonia, chest infections (various, 'treated' with antibiotics), pleurisy, HIV sero-conversion illness (after assessment

How to approach doctors to test for CF?
Hello! At first this may sound a bit hypochondriac/Google-patient but hear me out! Sorry for the long post too, it's a long story as they say! I'm 19 years old, and when I was a just few months old I started getting chest infections which I needed hospitalisation and nebulisers etc for. When I turned

Montelukast 10_mg
I was diagnosed with asthma a number of years ago & until just recently was coping with Seretide & Salbutamol inhalers. However, after a persistent cough which started around October, I visited asthma nurse who suggested Montelukast tablets at night. I've just read all the blurb & though she mentioned

My husband had to have a triple by pass he was treated at the William Harvey in Ashford, but they work with Kings College so he was under a consultant there. He wanted

Peak Flow/?Asthma
Hi everyone, I've just been given a salbutamol inhaler for suspected exercise induced asthma, and over the next two weeks I've been asked to chart my peak flow before exercise, when symptomatic and after using my inhaler. The Doctor has also asked me to see an asthma nurse; I'm not sure if this is

Asthma and feeling low and poorly
Good evening everyone, I bet many of you are finding it more of a strangle now as the wet and cold weather has set in. My asthma has really started to play up since Saturday night when my peak flow started to drop. On Sunday when I took my peak flow it was down to 320 when my personal best is 450.

Have been a member of BLF for several months but this is the first time I have asked a question, I have bronchiectasis and was wondering if
any other members have been given two different brands of Inhalers 1 Ventolin 100 micrograms/dose Evohaler and 1 Salbutamol 100micrograms/dose Breath Actuated Inhaler. Both for one or two puffs to be inhaled up to four times a day when needed. I realise that the ingredients are the same for both inhalers

Possible asthma and GORD?
Hi there, I'm new here, just wondering if anyone has experienced anything remotely similar with their children. Apologies first of all as this will be a long post... My daughter is almost 4 and has had a pretty busy little life since the age of 1 when she started getting nighttime coughs. We had many
