Tired after exacerbation - is it partly due to salbutamol or what?
Hi all! I am new to this forum and glad having found it. The last 3 years my asthma has been in remission and as I have allergic asthma primarily, I only took a very low dose of inhaled steroid to help me in the spring and summer months with much pollen in the air and did not need to take any asthma

Cold or Flu Asthma Trigger
This is my first post in the forum. I was diagnosed with asthma after a very nasty viral illness (glandular fever)in 2007. I am now on the Symbicot and Salbutamol, which I take daily to control my asthma and it does a very good job. I also ride my bike every day to work to control my asthma. The only

What strong painkillers can I take?
I was going to phone the asthma nurse - but the helpline isn't open until tomorrow. I have fairly mild asthma, mostly well controlled. I've developed a cold overnight and my peak flow is down today. I'm not coughing which is my usual symptom but my chest feels a little tight. I'm using Salbutamol regularly

not sure on advice
Hi I went to my GP today as my 5 year old daughter has been coughing for the last 6 weeks and I have been using brown inhaler 3 times a day and blue inhaler several times through the night and no improvement in the coughs. She can cough continually for 2 or 3 hours at night, when she wakes to turn

What might be next?
I have just been referred to a specialist and am on 40mg pred until then, as well as 8x200/6 symbicort, singulair and salbutamol coming out of my ears. I was wondering what the next step is likely to be? I am currently, even with this medication, having at least one significant attack a day, each feeling

How to know when to take reliever?
Hi :) Just a quick question really... I'm in the middle of a bad asthma exacerbation (it's been going on since October) and am symptomatic pretty much all the time - coughing, short of breath, tight chest, can't hold a conversation for too long etc. I have never had a lengthy exacerbation before, and

Request particular brand inhaler??
Hi, I wonder if anyone can answer this for me. Over the years I have had various different types of salbutamol inhaler... ventolin, salamol, salamol easi-breathe, boots own brand. I've never requested any one in particular these are just what I've been given. I have found that I prefer the easi-breathe

Advice about temp with cough
My 7 year old son has severe asthma and takes seratide 50 as well as salbutamol. Over the past few days he's had a horrible cough and started with a temperature. Took him to see the GP who gave him steroids and antibiotics but told me to take him to a&e if he became floppy. Since coming home his temperature

Confused? Well, now I am more than confused, what on earth is going on
Well, I was in having my spirometry done and with each reading, I am thinking in my head, oh, this is bad, this is SOOOOOO bad, I should be able to breath harder than this. I also had the reversibility test and I knew the salbutamol made no improvement so in each of the 3 readings, I am sitting thinking

Constant sneezing and nasal irritation - reaction to Seretide
Hi, New member, first post. I was first diagnosed with asthma in 2008. Ever since I started taking preventer inhalers (I'm now using Seretide 250) I've been sneezing constantly. 30-50 times a day. I'm also constantly full of mucus. Before I was diagnosed, I was coughing all the time. Immediately after

The next step up??
Hi all, Well...I'm moaning about nothing really, and I apologise, but despite taking more Symbicort and salbutamol than I could count, and having singular at night as well, my peak flow is hovering around 350 and I'm feeling pretty rubbish. I saw my GP last Wednesday (about something totally different

Inhaler alert!!
Certain Batches of Ventolin and Asmol Inhalers Recalled by GSK Glaxo SmithKline (GSK) and Alphapharm have voluntarily recalled several batches of Ventolin and Asmol Inhalers due to a fault with the delivery mechanism. This fault is only apparent in a small number of inhalers in each batch. The fault

Frustration over GPs!
I have come onto this forum for the first time today hoping to see I'm not alone! I had to take my just-6 year old to the doctors today as she had a bad night and I was going to nebulise her but realised the nebules were out of date. I left feeling very upset and frustrated that I was once again told

Skin Rash from Steriod Inhaler...advice please.
Hello Everyone, My 4yr old daughter has been using a Qvar 50 Beclometasone steroid inhaler at night for a few months now, just 1 or 2 puffs before bedtime. It seems to be helping her but over the last few weeks she has developed a skin rash on her chin which seems worse some days rather than other

In denial with diagnosis and differing opinions confusing me!
My 3 year old son had frequent 'viral induced wheeze' episodes in his first 18 months which resulted in hospitalisation; nebuliser and steroid. We then saw a private consultant who advised that children with many 'chest infections' are actually asthmatic. Is this really as scientific as a diagnosis
