Flecainide and beta-agonists
I am currently on 200mg flec/day to prevent a recurrence of a-fib. I have exercised induced asthma. I currently use an Ipvent (Ipratropium Bromide) inhaler. I use this rather than a beta agonist (e.g. salbutamol) because beta agonists have been associated with a-fib. Ipvent is weaker but longer lasting

Atypical Asthma in Hospital
Hi all, I was admitted to my local hospital on Weds night with the worst attack of my life so far. This was my first time at this hospital having moved to the area only recently; other hospitals have previously sent me home even when I was in distress, because I don't present normally; 1) My pulse ox

Inhalers
I always have difficulty knowing when my Salbutamol inhaler is empty and was given a tip to help me establish how full the container was. Simply pull the container off the holder and put it in a glass of water. If it sinks to the bottom, then it's full. If it floats, then it's totally empty. Floating

I have had COPD for over 20 years, I gave up smoking 19 years ago. I also have osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, fibromyalgia and had my large bowel and rectum removed 15 years ago due to Ulcerative Colitis so, as you can probably appreciate I am no quitter. The problem bothering me at present is that

Dry cough for over 4 months
Age 37, white male, 181cm, 160lbs, UK, no previous health issues, not on any medication. I have never smoked. I've had a dry, non-productive cough since around the beginning of September. It started off as an occasional very slight, tickly cough. Now it is a loud barking cough that I get when I'm active

Worst things people have said/what not to say to someone with a lung condition
1. "look, you're not breathing right…iiiiiin….ouuuuut…." I know I'm not breathing right, I'm having an attack! I can't breathe! 2. "take DEEP breaths!" Again, can't breathe, so... 3. "you're just panicking!" Yep, and that's why my lungs are silent, right? 4. "oh I get a cough sometimes too" Oh poor

Inhaler holiday
Day #5, inhaler holiday. While at work the last 4 days, I ran 5 flights of stairs, 5 times, 4 times a day. Hiked today, as high as I could get, fast as I could go. Plenty of PLB, but sometimes it is hard to regulate my breathing going up. Seem to recover ok, once I hit some flatter ground. I jogged home

Copd
I was diagnosed with copd 2 in January of this year. I have the pink inhaler 2 puffs in the morning and night and salbutamol when needed through passive smoking with my husband smoking near me. I had an x-Ray which said this, but also work with dusty notes at the local hospital. So my husband keeps saying

Hi from the hospital!
Back in, lucky escape from ICU this time :/ I was on the wrong dose of my combination inhaler anyway, so I'd been feeling off for a few weeks. Suddenly I woke up at about 2:00am on Monday morning with severe shortness of breath which soon, despite my best efforts with my relievers, turned into a complete

Put a temporary hold on my Dulera and Spiriva
And Albuterol. I have SOB on them, off them. I have been on/off the Dulera since Jan. I stopped taking in the past when this all began in Jan because I did not notice a difference. I started again a couple weeks ago per my GP, and don't feel much different. On Spiriva almost a month, not much difference

Search for a new Pulm
So my Pulm released me as a patient today. I had emailed an update. I had mentioned I saw my PCP and that he recommended I use my Dulera which I had stopped. My Pulm said it was counterproductive to see "several" different physicians for the same problem, even though I only see him and my PCP. Mentioned

warning, still recovering yet.
Last night was i given my evening meal by my carer, just as usual. This meal was the "wiltshire farm foods" , a little fish, chips and plenty of peas , and cup of tea. [no blame on the wiltshire farm foods ] This was only a very small meal. My lovely carer did her bits and bobs, asked me if i need

It is not rocket science...
A few folk have asked me what my own healthy living programme to manage COPD is like...so here goes-it works for me, though I appreciate it may not work for everyone. A typical week will include A reasonable amount of exercise, inc. daily 2-3 PR exercises, different ones each day, walking 20-60 minutes

Problems with Benylin tablets?
So I've previously used Benylin chesty cough and cold tablets when I've felt chesty or felt a chest infection coming on. (And been fine) I was diagnosed with asthma at the beginning of October and been using Clenil inhaler in the morning and evening daily (and Salbutamol when required) since being diagnosed

Lung overinflation
So I went to the Pulmo a couple days ago and had full PFT's. I posted here a couple times prior. Anyway, my FEV/FVC was 69, then to 71 post Albuterol. So not much change. FEV1 105%, maybe 108 post. Again not much change. Airway resistance normal. DLCO normal. But my lung volumes not. TLC, RV, TLC/RV

10 Myths and Facts About COPD
The sad fact is COPD is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. after heart disease, cancer, and stroke. It turns out your lungs are a precious resource —just like your heart—and need to be protected throughout your life. Just like heart disease, COPD can be silent for many years, until it’s nearly
