Xtandi vs. Biktarby advice needed.
I received my second Lupron injection last week even though there's a slight
PSA
increase from .83 to 1.10 (they did not do a testosterone test, wich was climbing again) Oncologist mentioned we could start Xtandi but also suggested to wait for my next month labs and see what's
PSA
doing.

PSA on ADT but post EBRT
His
psa
in Oct 2022 (pre-radiation) had dropped from 6 to .24 and
psa
done a couple weeks ago (post radiation) was .02. Basically I’m wondering if
psa
at this point is any indicator of outcome or will we not know until he discontinues the adt treatment in August 2024?

Re: Taxotere chemo after post surgery IMRT
First post surgery
PSA
was 20. PSMA pet showed some invasion to pelvic lymph nodes no where else. Put on Lupron , generic Zytiga and prednisone and given 6 weeks of IMRT. Has to wait 3 months till June for first
PSA
. Have read that a follow up to the radiation is now Taxotere or another chemo.

April 2023 Update
My
PSA
was <0.01 and my T was <0.02 in October 2022. I had blood tests in April 2023 (after 6 months) and my
PSA
was <0.01 and my T had risen to 4. My Oncologist wants
PSA
tests every six months and will only intervene if the
PSA
rises to 2.0.

Treatment - radiation vs. surgery
The trade off's being that there is more likely short term urinary tract and bowel irritation possible with radiation and that some prostate tissue remains so there is always going to be some level of
PSA
produced and may be less sensitive to monitor for recurrence.

Weight LOSS on ADT
After radiation, Zytiga and Lupron, my
PSA
dropped to no-detect, where it has stayed for the past 3+ years. All very good news, right? Yes....mostly. Though I've dealt with continuing hot flashes and fatigue, my big concern right now is weight loss.

Lymph node treatments
Note my
PSA
has risen from 0.27 in November to .49 in April I started Xtandi in June 2022 when my
PSA
was 0.69 and it quickly dropped to 0.40 in July but has slowly but steadly climbed back up Is the rise in
PSA
a result of this mild progression of disease in the lymph nodes or resistance to Xtandi

Chemo may be helping
After 2 rounds, my
PSA
dropped 4.7 points. TBH, I feel like crap today, but the results are promising. My blood work also showed low cortisol levels, how concerned should I be about that? Thanks.

treatment and insurance questions
PSA
5.2. Biopsy results confirmed by MRI. I am 64 years old and will be 65 in December. I have horrible insurance with very limited treatment options. I would like to delay treatment until I have Medicare (5 months).

hip or hernia pain
I have a diagnosis of
psa
and am prescribed Taltz. I have had right side groin pain for 18 months. Extensive testing has shown mild degenerative changes in my hip joint and an osteophyte. Ortho consultant doesn’t believe this is the source of the pain. An indirect inguinal hernia has been found.

UPDATE
Had my 3 month lupron injection yesterday and
PSA
checked. I have been on xtandi since last June,
PSA
yesterday was 0.08. Three months ago it was 0.16. The PA told me most men on xtandi’s run last between 2 and 3 years. I hope she is wrong in my case. Any one have any thoughts about this.

Effect of low endogenous testosterone
I told the urologist I want Orgovyx tablets which should bring the

Question ?
Those individuals who were getting
PSA
tests early, often, yearly with physicals etc and thus saw their
PSA
start rising above the magical 4 ng/ml level. They took action with one of the many paths for treatments discussed here.

My
PSA
showed a result of "undetectable" at 3, 6, and 9 months after surgery. At 12 months, it was no longer undetectable. A PSMA PT scan showed mild to moderate uptake in several lymph nodes around the site of my prostatectomy but no distant disease.

My brother has advanced Prostate cancer
Since then he had one more
PSA
test which came back at 17! He has CT scan and bone scan, he had some new mets on his bones(spine) and they are suspected to some lymph nodes of chest. Currently he has hormone therapy every 3 months and Nubeqa.
