Would such a test predict the success of nerve sparing following radical
prostatectomy
? My Urologist has not tested my testosterone level. Is it pretty standard for PCa patients (post RP) to be tested?

New Diagnosis
Unfortunately they didn’t know how extensive the cancer was until he was in surgery for his
prostatectomy
and the surgeon had to abort because he saw the tumor had grown out of the prostate. He did take some tissue from the peritoneal cavity and it came back with cancer in it as well.

Advice on Next Steps
Did 4 rounds of Taxotere chemo at .75. and then offered option between brachytherapy and
prostatectomy
based on "obvious shrinking of tumor on DRE" and "response to systemic therapy."

Intervention radiology
My husband is in quarantine and his exploratory surgery’s showed that his selvedge
prostatectomy
basically just killed the chance of reconnecting the urethra and bladder together again. So going to have to figure out a new way to work the plumbing.

Considering the side effects, is post prostatectomy salvidge radiation, along with hormone therapy, worth the risks?
Went back to City of Hope where
prostatectomy
was done 5 years ago. One doctor wanted radiation and Lupron. Another doctor said radiation alone was good.

Testosterone after Brachytherapy.
And, even at 18 months, recovery was only to baseline - not to the higher levels seen following
prostatectomy
. "Patients were followed for 24-60 months", but increases over baseline were not reported, at least in the Abstract.

Hormone therapy for post prostatectomy cancer recurrence.
I have been reading that hormone therapy, including Lupron, can cause cognitive decline. Has anyone heard of this, or had experience with this? Thanks

Take your time before deciding
The only times I ever hear patients regret the initial treatment decision (whether
prostatectomy
, radiation, active surveillance, or ablation) is when they didn't take the time to investigate all their options before deciding.

Hi from down under.
I was referred to a urological surgeon and in August underwent a radical
prostatectomy
done by the da Vinci method. Unfortunately the Gleason score was increased to 9 and was told I had an advanced and aggressive cancer. My post op psa dropped to 0.03 from a pre op reading of 6.5.

An update on my situation...
And I know I did not have a
prostatectomy
10 years ago. So they planted a garden of seeds in the prostate. After 2-3 months the PSA was down to ~1.8 and after 9 months it was down to .447 and .437 with no Lupron! So far so good! The seeds are about done, and it was worth it

More on Axumin, a question
I have had a
prostatectomy
(5 years ago) I have also had radiation to prostate bed AND lymph nodes in that area. (3 1/2 years ago) But, I have a rising PSA, theoretically it should no longer be in either of those two places.
