Hi, i'm new here
In the waiting stage for an agreed
prostatectomy
. I am 58 years of age. Gleason score of 3+4. Initial PSA of 6.5, followed by another test of 7.5 two weeks later, post biopsy. Surgeon and his team provided lots of information and concluded he maybe able to do nerve sparing, but not guaranteed.

I had my six eeek follow up and was started on low dose vIagra with suplemental dose incase i thought I might have sexual activity. As well as a pump. I had never used a pump before. I have a d3cent size penis. about 7,5 ( or did) and nice head, but I think the tube size is too big even with the flimsy

From then on, every three months: Lupron (had
prostatectomy
, lymph nodes removed, etc.) And the subsequent Lupron side-effects have become progressively severe in years 5, 6, and 7 on Lupron. And I keep asking: “Can it get much worse?” Stupid question.

BRCA2 positive - need for PARP inhibitor; Rucaparib, others?
Also having robotic
prostatectomy
this Nov 14 as part of the SIMCAP clinical trial. Should I consider adding Rucaparib at this point, or wait until I become castrate resistant???

Is Radical Retropubic robot assisted prostatectomy with nerve sparing truly considered experimental?
I am wondering if anyone had to appeal a denial on a predetermination letter for this proceedure? While I was meeting with Dr. Vipul Patel and him accepting me as a patient, the letter was waiting in my mailbox back home. Dr. Patel literally does more of these than anyone in the world, he tracks his

ED 10 months after surgery
I’m 59 and had a
prostatectomy
November 2018 at Sloan and my doctor was wonderful. At my 2 month followup my PSA was undetectable, it was also undetectable at my 6 month followup. I’m hoping it will be the same at my one year appointment next month.

A reason to have both ?
All three agreed to either: 1 Radical
prostatectomy
followed by 6 to 8 weeks of radiation treatments and hormone therapy or 2 No surgery followed by 6 to 8 weeks of radiation treatments and hormone therapy. What am I missing here?

He said either monitoring it or a robotic
prostatectomy
is the route. I am so afraid of dying that ED doesn’t really affect me right now. I will do anything to be free of this and never revisit this. I’ll Even get a penile implant to inflate my penis.

Truvada
He did not get a
prostatectomy
. He goes to MD Anderson and they have done at least two scans on him--in 2017 and this month. MD Anderson "can't find where the cancer is" so he is on no medication other that Truvada. I assume that MD would use the latest scan technology.

Recurrent Prostate cancer post prostatectomy, salvage radiation and now 1 pelvic lymph node metastasis. What to do?
My husband had a
prostatectomy
in 2007 at MSK, age 57 with Gleason 7, contained to the prostate. PSA was 0.01 through 2013. Unfortunately, his primary doctor did not notice a rising psa over the next few years. In 2016 he discovered his psa had risen to 1.4.

Shortly after surgery, I happened upon the following document from the American Urological Association: Adjuvant and Salvage Radiotherapy after
Prostatectomy
: ASTRO/AUA Guideline, published in 2013.

In a new randomized, controlled clinical trial - 4000 u of Vitamin D supplement daily slows low-grade prostate cancer
"Hollis wondered if giving these men vitamin D supplements during the 60-day waiting period [prior to surgery] would affect their prostate cancer. His previous research had shown that when men with low-grade prostate cancer took vitamin D supplements for a year, 55 percent of them showed decreased Gleason

gone forever?
First recommendation (I will have second opinion in 2 weeks) radical
prostatectomy
, including both nerve bundles, followed by radiology treatments. I have the same initial questions everyone must face. How long will the incontinence last and are the good old erections gone forever?

Radiotherapy & second primary malignancies.
My
prostatectomy
[RP] of 14.5 years ago was not successful & so I had salvage radiation. I was told that there would be an increased risk of a second cancer - but not within the first 5 years.
